MANHATTAN, NEW YORK: Keith Robinson recently shared details about going through a stroke in 2020, revealing that it occurred shortly after taking Viagra.

Keith Robinson's disclosure about his stroke sparks online discussion

Robinson's revelation about the stroke he experienced after taking Viagra took the Internet by storm, with some emphasizing the details surrounding the medication and whether it could cause a stroke.

One user questioned the premise of Viagra, stating, "Hold up for a minute. The entire premise of Viagra was to reduce blood pressure because it is a vasodilator. Only later on was it used for erectile dysfunction."

"I doubt Viagra, which opens up blood vessels and reduces blood pressure, was responsible for his stroke. He probably has some other underlying condition," expressed someone else.

A person stated, "Hard pill to swallow."

Keith Robinson discloses he suffered a Viagra-induced stroke during a flight

A Netflix special, filmed by Robinson at Sony Hall, is anticipated to shed further light on the situation. The program, attended by comedians like Amy Schumer and Wanda Sykes, is expected to get an early 2024 release,

As per reports, symptoms of Robinson's stroke began during his flight, but despite feeling unwell, he decided to continue with his plans rather than seek immediate medical attention. He eventually sought medical help the next day.

"Now I am drinking and drinking on the flight, first class of course, and I am a little hammered," recalled Robinson and noted that he "popped a Viagra" 20 minutes before landing.

He joked, "I timed it perfectly."

Robinson, who had a previous stroke in 2016, remembered debating, "Should I go to the hospital and live or try to get laid."

He added, "And she’s seeing me and then things start to happen, but bad. My arm was gone, my leg was gone and the only thing that was still working was from the Viagra."

"She’s a person that I’ve worked with for years," noted Robinson, continuing, "This was the first time we were going to get down to the nitty and gritty of things. That’s the only reason I flew."

Robinson's recovery took some time, but he has since returned to the comedy scene. The Comedy Cellar in Greenwich Village even installed railings to support him on stage.

"They’re not (Americans with Disabilities Act) compliant, they are just for him to get himself on the stage,” said Comedy Cellar owner Noam Dworman, adding, "He loves it so much he wouldn’t quit. He’s learned to talk about it on stage, and I would say he’s stronger now than he has ever been in his whole career."

While Viagra itself doesn't inherently increase the risk of stroke, combining it with heavy alcohol consumption may pose potential risks, according to experts.
