'I felt a sense of uncertainty': Nicholas Galitzine opens up about his sexuality and grappling with 'guilt' over queer roles

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Nicholas Galitzine's breakthrough came from portraying a queer character, but upon reflection, the talented actor now grapples with feelings of "guilt."

In his recent interview, the 29-year-old expressed that he identifies as a straight man, but has been involved in some incredible queer stories.

Galitzine explained, “I felt a sense of uncertainty sometimes about whether I’m taking up someone’s space, and perhaps guilt.”

“At the same time, I see those characters as not solely their sexuality,” the ‘Red, White & Royal Blue’ actor said.

The up-and-coming actor made it clear that he is distinct from the characters he has portrayed, stating, "I am Nick, and I am not defined by my roles."

In another interview, the English actor talked about why he plays queer roles. “I have so many friends within the community,” Galitzine told HuffPost UK in March.

“And I know so many of them didn’t feel like they had these stories growing up. I think with all of these [gay and bisexual] characters the thing that I find really intriguing as an actor is that underbelly of vulnerability and having to hide oneself,” the actor added.
