LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Natalie Portman is not interested in dealing with questions regarding her personal life. The 'Black Swan' star, who tied knot to French choreographer Benjamin Millepied in 2012, provided a rare insight about her personal life in an interview for Vanity Fair's 30th annual Hollywood issue.

When asked about the period leading up to the film's release, during which French outlet Voici published an article claiming Millepied had an extramarital affair, the 42-year-old Golden Globe Award winner said, "It’s terrible, and I have no desire to contribute to it." After the interviewer admitted, I "don't love asking about it, either," Portman replied, "I can imagine."

Natalie Portman on living in Paris and LA

The actress went on to discuss how she finds Los Angeles and Paris "complementary cities" that both feel like home.

"I love having both in my life," she said, adding "I lead a very non-Hollywood life in LA. I live on the east side. I have some friends who are in the entertainment industry, but many friends who are not, and we don’t do industry things when we hang out. We’re not going to Hollywood parties, we’re having dinners at home in the backyard."

Portman went on to explain that living in LA actually made her "experience" of the city "much less 'Hollywood.'"

"When I would visit, it would only be for work, and I’d be staying somewhere in Beverly Hills, and I’d be having industry meetings and going to industry parties," she recalled, adding "Living there made my experience much more rounded and appreciative of all the city has to offer, from nature to the arts, food to music, and of course, the people."

"And Paris, of course, is just a dream. I’m so lucky to get to live here and have an enormously stimulating city life with incredible friends," the actress said.

How did Natalie Portman and Benjamin Millepied meet?

Portman and Millepied, 46, first connected when he was recruited to choreograph 'Black Swan' and train star Portman in the art of ballet. They began to fall for each other as Millepied taught Portman to dance, and by the time filming wrapped, they were dating.

A year later, they were engaged and expected their first child. After welcoming son Aleph in 2011, Portman and Millepied tied the knot in a coastal California ceremony. They later welcomed daughter Amalia in 2017.

A source previously claimed that Millepied's affair "was short-lived and it is over." "He knows he made an enormous mistake and he is doing all he can to get Natalie to forgive him and keep their family together," the source told People last year.
