'I object': Megyn Kelly slams Sydney Sweeney's see-through dress from Variety's Power of Women event

NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: Megyn Kelly expressed disapproval over Sydney Sweeney’s completely see-through silver croset gown that the actress wore to Variety’s Power of Women event.

Despite acknowledging Sweeney’s beauty and admitting to being a fan of hers, the conservative commentator called the look a rare misstep and speculated that the actress might have been misled into wearing it.

Ripping apart Sydney Sweeney’s outfit, Megyn Kelly on Friday, October 31, said, “I object to this," adding, "I disapprove of the dress because it’s completely see-through.”

Kelly pointed out that she can “see [Sweeney’s] entire” chest in the Christian Cowan gown, which was worn at the event on Wednesday. 

After praising the 28-year-old’s “No 1 assets” as “enormous” and “spectacular,” Kelly compared Sweeney to Kim Kardashian.

“She … overshares and then takes away the thing that is the sexiest, which is every guy’s hope to be the one who actually sees them for real, and leaving a little to the imagination,” Kelly explained. However, the journalist clarified that she was “a Sydney Sweeney fan.”

“I guarantee you, somebody brought the dress to her and was like, ‘Now we’ll take it next level,'” Megyn Kelly theorized. “And she trusted the wrong person, and before you knew it, we had all seen it.”

She referred to the gown as a “rare misstep,” noting that she recently backed Sweeney when the 'Euphoria' star faced backlash over her American Eagle "Great Jeans" ad.

Kelly further remarked that she “draws the line at areola.”

Social media reacts to Sydney Sweeney's sheer dress

Similar to Megyn Kelly, some social media users also criticised Sydney Sweeney’s outfit choice. 

Under her Instagram post, one netizen wrote, "There is nothing powerful about nakedness," and another said, "Self respect please."

"This isn’t power. Power is when you can drop jaws without revealing any part of your body," read another comment. 

Sweeney has not spoken out against the backlash; however, many have come to her defence over her latest look. 

Moreover, Katy Perry, AJ McLean, and Jessie James Decker all gushed over her dress in the comments, while followers called it “absolutely beautiful,” “stunning,” and “gorgeous.”
