WASHINGTON, DC: Donald Trump left his voters flabbergasted as he claimed he wants China to 'do great', while adding the Chinese Presiden Xi Jinping has been his good friend during his term.

On Sunday, February 4, Trump appeared on ‘Sunday Morning Futures', where he commented about his trade plans with China if he is reelected as the president.

What did Donald Trump say about Xi Jinping?

During the interview, Trump was asked by the ‘Sunday Morning Futures’ host Maria Bartiromo whether he wants to facilitate a trade war with China. Bartiromo further asked whether he would also be increasing a 60 percent hike in tariffs - as it has been rumored previously.

While Trump firmly denied the chances of ramping up a trade war with China if he is reelected for a second term, Trump said he would consider even 'more than' the 60 percent tariff in Chinese imports per Politico.

The former President then heaped praises on the Chinese President Xi Jinping and the Asian nation saying, “Look, I want China to do great, I do. And I like President Xi a lot, he was a very good friend of mine during my term.”

As Bartiromo replied, “Well, look, Covid, Covid cover up, intellectual property theft, the list is long from our number one adversary. So I don’t know if he is a friend…,” Trump spoke over her and said, “I got along with him great, I’m not sure he loved what I was doing.”

Despite claiming Jinping his friend, Trump said he doesn’t think Jinping wants him to return back to the White House.

Later the same interview, Trump has also claimed Joe Biden to be a 'Manchurian Candidate' citing he takes money from China.

Calling President Biden 'incompetent', Trump said, “When it comes to a lot of countries, I think he’s a Manchurian Candidate, because he receives money from China.”

He continued, “People say, I wonder why he’s so weak on China? He gets a lot of money from China.”

Internet reacts to Donald Trump's words

Internet were left angered as Donald Trump claimed the Chinese President has been his 'friend'.

One of the social media usesr said, "Trump likes Xi as he was able to make himself President till the time he wants and Trump wants the same thing, President of the America forever."

Someone else said in an exasperated manner, "I can no longer listen to this man speak. Just, no more."

"Somehow Trump has flipped on China & maybe Israel too. Disturbing...," remarked someone else.

Another social media user commented, "Dictators of a feather, stick together..."

'Expressing a wish for China's success and emphasizing a friendly relationship sparks concerns regarding the adherence to the 'America first' principle, prompting scrutiny into priorities and allegiances," said a netizen.

"Only thing Trump cares about is how people treat HIM because he is all that matters," said another user.

Someone else quizzed, "How can people watch this and believe he’s “tough on China?”"

"International politics is not a question of friendship...," cautioned a user.
