Iain Armitage is the world's richest child actor: Exploring 'Young Sheldon' star's incredible net worth
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Iain Armitage, known for playing the role of Sheldon Cooper in ‘Young Sheldon’, is reportedly the richest child actor in the world currently.
Though the 2017 sitcom ended in May 2024 with a two-episode finale, it made the 16-year-old a millionaire at a young age, as per The Tab.
The publication reported that the teenager boasts a gigantic net worth of $6 million — partly because of his work in the CBS series for which he was paid $30,000 per episode in the first season.
Iain Armitage was earlier a YouTube star
By the time season three began, Iain Armitage was earning $32,500 for an episode.
According to The Tab, for seasons four and five, Armitage was given $50,000 per episode and it’s expected the amount must have increased for seasons five and six.
Though ‘Young Sheldon’ played a major role in building the child actor’s name and fame, he was reportedly earlier known for his YouTube video series ‘Iain Loves Theatre’.
In 2014, at the age of six, Armitage even made an appearance on ‘The Perez Hilton Show’. But his acting debut happened in 2017 when he worked in films — ‘The Glass Castle’, ‘Our Souls At Night’, and ‘I'm Not Here’. The same year, he was signed as the lead in 'Young Sheldon', the spinoff to 'The Big Bang Theory'.
Armitage also did TV shows — ‘Law & Order: Special Victims Unit’ and ‘Big Little Lies’.
Iain Armitage 'has a lot of fun things to do’ after ‘Young Sheldon’
In May, Armitage spoke with The Los Angeles Times regarding his feelings about ‘Young Sheldon’ coming to an end.
He shared, “For so many people on our set, myself included, it was very hard to say goodbye. But I think it would have been hard to say goodbye if it had happened tomorrow or in 10 years.”
“I don’t necessarily think that for me it was this massive letting go where I was so mournful it was happening right now. At the end of the day, as much as I love it, and as fun as it has been, it is a job,” he noted, before mentioning, “I’m looking forward to what happens next.”
Besides, Armitage also revealed his plan for his future after the show. “I’m excited. I’m getting my student pilot’s license in two months, maybe. On my 16th birthday, I’ll be able to solo fly legally. And I’m doing a bunch of fun extracurricular stuff,” he noted.
He added, “I’m learning languages and doing a lot of travel. I do want to continue acting very much. And I do want to go to college very much. I have a lot of fun things that I’m looking forward to.”
