LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Jon Stewart has once again taken aim at the relentless media coverage surrounding Donald Trump's trial in New York, describing it as "numbing."

During Thursday's episode of 'The Daily Show,' Stewart criticized what he perceives as an excessive focus on the trial, particularly highlighting the attention given to details like Stormy Daniels' testimony.

Jon Stewart's critique of media overload on Trump trial

"The ubiquitous coverage is numbing, fading into televised wallpaper with insight that only occasionally crackles through," Stewart remarked at the start of his monologue, characterizing the overwhelming media attention.

Stewart's absence earlier in the week was duly noted, with his return to the show on Thursday marking a continuation of his critique of media coverage.

This is not the first time Stewart has taken aim at the media's handling of the trial. In a segment titled 'America’s Most Tremendously Wanted,' aired in April, he underscored the trial's significance as a test not only for the American legal system but also for the media's responsibility in covering Trump.

Stewart suggested that the media's hyperfocus on salacious details may serve to distract the public from more pressing issues, such as threats to individual freedoms.

"Perhaps this hyperfocus by our news media is purposeful, to distract Americans by keeping visions of dancing penises in their heads," Stewart continued on Thursday. "All the while, Americans are losing their freedoms at home."



 

Stewart takes aim at Biden's stance on Israeli conflict

During his monologue, Stewart also touched on various other topics, including a right-wing backlash against clean energy initiatives, the Boy Scouts of America's name change, and President Biden's stance on providing weapons to the Israeli government amid the conflict in Gaza.

"The Biden administration has paused one shipment of 3,500 munitions of the over 300,000 munitions Israel has already dropped on Gaza to try and prevent the Israelis from attacking the area where all the refugees of this war are currently sheltering," Stewart said, highlighting Biden's decision to pause a shipment of munitions to Israel.

In a characteristic satirical jab, Stewart responded to Trump's comments with biting wit, sarcastically thanking him for taking time off from his own legal entanglements to lecture others on morality.

"My apologies to you, Rabbi," Stewart said satirically in response to Trump's comments. "Thank you so much for taking time off of your condom-less porn star hush money trial to deliver a shame lecture to Jews. I will reflect on your moral standing next Yom Kippur."
