WASHINGTON, DC: Congresswoman Ilhan Omar is facing an onslaught of attacks from conservatives on social media after some of her comments during a televised interview with progressive journalist Mehdi Hasan, Sky News reported on Monday, February 24.

The US Representative from Minnesota has remained adamant in her stance, and further clarified it in post on X after being called out by her Republican colleague, Congressman Greg Steube.

Retweeting his remark on her comments being a losing strategy for the Democrats, Omar stated, "Majority of Americans are smart hardworking people but people like you who fall for every lie make Americans look dumb and stupid."

"Also, hate to inform you but Republicans or the people who voted for the criminal in the White House do not make up the majority of our country," she added.

Ilhan Omar has reportedly been facing personal attacks from GOP leaders such as Texas Congressman Brandon Gill, who recently claimed that the country would be better off with her being "deported".

On that note, Hasan asked Omar, "I thought I’d seen everything and I’ve seen a lot of attacks on you, but now you have a Republican colleague in the house saying to deport an American citizen, an American lawmaker, elected representative, how do you deal with that?”

The Congresswoman did not hold back in her response, stating, "These people are just idiots. I’m at the point where it’s become really hard to have an intellectual debate with any of these people because the level of stupidity they are displaying every single day is frankly embarrassing, not just in Congress but as Americans."

She doubled down on President Donald Trump and MAGA supporters as she continued, "The fact that these people are allowed to say just the most ridiculous things tells you that the dumbing of the United States has arrived, because how else do we get a Trump presidency again.”

People online, especially conservatives, slammed Ilhan Omar on the social media platform X over her comments during the interview with Mehdi Hasan. The following tweets demonstrate their takes.

"She is sickening! Deportation should occur immediately!" wrote a user.

"How can she sit there and talk about her constituents like that?" asked another.

"She reached the next stage beyond 'dumb'. Her brain is numb," mocked a third.

"Liberals just keep digging the grave deeper," jibed one user.

"She hurts herself with this whining," claimed another.

"Can we deport Ilhan Omar? She hates this country," echoed one.

"I’m embarrassed anyone in the US voted for her in office," chided yet another.
