‘I’m on the ballot’: Trump turns to a surprising polling argument to defend MAGA
The Polls have ALWAYS underestimated MAGA. They try to suppress the Vote, but I won all 7 Swing States, the Popular Vote, 86% of Counties, and 99% of Primaries this year. I AM ON THE BALLOT! President DONALD J. TRUMP From Dick Morris: “Since November of 2025 in monthly polls by McLaughlin, your job approval rating has always been between 47 and 50 percent. I have never seen anything like that in fifty years of polling. Almost every politician sees his numbers rise and fall each month but not you. You won the election in 2024 with 49.8 percent of the popular vote and the latest McLaughlin Poll, taken this month, has your job approval at 49% - the exact same as your vote share. No other political figure has ever had this level of consistency in his ratings. Through the Iran War and gas price rises and falls, your job approval is the same. It never changes. And 49% is enough to win - look at how that level of vote won in 2024! In the same Mclaughlin Poll, the generic ballot is 50-48 Democrat. That is also enough to keep the House Republican. Past history indicates that anything less than a four point margin for Democrats likely points to a Republican House victory. And almost all polls are showing Republican gains in the generic ballot.” ( TS: Oct 4 2026, 10:11 AM ET )

WASHINGTON, DC: As the 2026 midterm election date draws closer, candidates are leaving no stone unturned in their efforts to secure votes and win their races, with the results also likely to shape the political landscape ahead of the 2028 presidential election.
Amid polls and reports suggesting Republicans face a tough fight to retain their narrow majorities in both chambers of Congress, President Donald Trump pushed back against the polling, arguing that surveys deliberately underestimate MAGA support and attempt to “suppress the vote.”
Trump declared he is on the ballot, pushes back on polls undermining MAGA
Writing a post on Truth Social on Sunday morning, Oct 4, President Donald Trump lashed out at polling surveys and analyses for underestimating conservative voters and deliberately trying to “suppress the vote.”
While Trump did not name any polling agencies, he cited political strategist Dick Morris’ analysis to defend his standing among Republican voters.
He highlighted political strategist Dick Morris’ latest analysis, which points to Trump’s 49% approval rating and a 50-48 Republican deficit on the generic congressional ballot.
Before moving to Dick Morris’s analysis, Trump touted his previous poll performances and declared that he is “on the ballot.”
“The Polls have ALWAYS underestimated MAGA. They try to suppress the Vote, but I won all 7 Swing States, the Popular Vote, 86% of Counties, and 99% of Primaries this year. I AM ON THE BALLOT,” Trump added.
Trump defends MAGA votes with Morris analysis
Trump used Morris’ polling analysis to defend his support among MAGA voters ahead of the midterm elections.
Morris pointed to McLaughlin polls showing Trump’s job approval rating has stayed between 47% and 50% every month since November 2025.
He said Trump’s approval rating in the latest poll was 49%, matching the share of the popular vote Trump received in the 2024 presidential election.
Morris said Trump’s approval rating has remained at the same level despite changes in the Iran war and fluctuations gas prices. He also pointed to the latest generic ballot, which showed Democrats leading Republicans 50%-48%.
Morris argued that the 2-point Democratic lead could still allow Republicans to keep control of the House. He said historical election results suggested Democrats would need a larger lead to win the chamber and claimed most polls showed gains for Republicans.
Morris is a longtime political consultant and commentator who became well known for advising former President Bill Clinton. He advised Clinton for years and played a prominent role in Clinton’s 1996 reelection campaign.
