Jessica Biel says she’s honest with her kids while discussing periods

Biel answered, “Well, I don't have all the answers, but my way is, I just tell them the truth about what’s going on with me, and how I'm feeling, and what's happening for me.”

The ‘I Now Pronounce You Chuck & Larry’ star continued, “I try to do it in a way that is giving them truthful, in a real, biological, anatomically correct information."

"You know? But also something that isn't going to feel too overwhelming for them,” she added.

The mother of Silas, 8, and Phineas, 3, further explained, “I'm not hiding it from them and I'm telling them the real words, and you know, giving them the real definitions of these terms and phrases, in and around reproductive health that can feel scary, and can feel comfortable to use, and I'm just telling it like it is.”

Jessica Biel discloses her reason behind writing the book

Biel in another Instagram video revealed that she wrote the upcoming book because “people don’t talk enough about periods. PERIOD.”

She added, “If we grownups have the confidence to tell the truth about how menstruating bodies work, then we’ll give the kids around us the agency and voice to talk about their own bodies with confidence, now and for the rest of their lives‼️”

People praises Jessica Biel

Many people applauded Jessica Biel in the comment section with one writing, “This is awesome! ESPECIALLY for the daddies with daughters who have to have this conversation with their daughters who don't have mothers. 👏”

Another one commented, “My 9-year-old just got her first period yesterday. I wish I had this book right now 😅.”

“Thank you for not only helping parents speak to their children but also the single FATHERS out there that always needed help on how to speak to their children but didn’t know how..,” one more user shared.

“You’re an incredible human being for normalizing this for both genders and explaining what goes on with our bodies ❤❤,” another user stated.

There were reactions on Facebook as well as a person said, “I did the same because I wanted my son to understand and be supportive to his girl friends at school. He once had to stick up for his friend as she needed to go to the toilet during class and some of the boys were being unkind about it.”

Another one added, “I told all three of my children(boys) very young. They need to learn young to be empathetic and also have knowledge.”
