WILDWOOD, NEW JERSEY: In a massive rally on the Jersey Shore on Saturday, May 11, former President Donald Trump made an unexpected dig at rock legend Bruce Springsteen, sparking widespread outrage, as reported by Newsweek.

Amidst a sea of enthusiastic supporters, Trump boasted of a larger crowd than the iconic musician, while also boldly declaring his intention to secure victory in the traditionally Democratic state.

Trump proclaimed, "I love these Saturday evenings. Is there anything better than a Trump rally? If some of these wackos came along, you know, these liberal singers, they'd actually vote for me. You know, like Bruce Springsteen. We have a much bigger crowd than Bruce Springsteen. Right?"

Springsteen, known for hits like 'Born in the USA', has been an outspoken advocate for Democratic causes and has openly opposed Trump's policies. Notably, Springsteen collaborated with former President Barack Obama on a podcast series, 'Renegades: Born in the USA,' a few years back.

In 2020, Springsteen joked about leaving the country if Trump won re-election. He humorously mentioned he'd consider relocating to Australia if the then-Democratic nominee Joe Biden didn't win the election, according to Newsweek.

"I love Australia. Every time, we have nothing but good times down there. It's always a treat to come. Love the people, love the geography, a great place for motorcycle trips, it's close to our hearts," Springsteen shared with Australian media outlets.

"If Trump is re-elected—which he will not be; I'm predicting right now he's gonna lose—if by some happenstance he should be, I'll see you on the next plane," he added.

Despite being a Democratic stronghold, Trump boldly claimed he would win New Jersey in the 2024 national election. "We're going to play in the state of New Jersey officially. We're going to win New Jersey," he claimed to the energized crowd.

However, in the past eight elections, New Jersey has consistently voted Democratic. President Biden had secured victory in the state over Trump in 2020, winning by a margin of 57 percent to 41 percent.

Internet roasts Trump for claiming bigger crowd than Bruce Springsteen

The internet was quick to roast Trump upon hearing his comments about having a bigger crowd than Springsteen. One commenter on X platform quipped, "Anything better than a Trump rally? YES, anything is! These 'rallies' are just unintelligible regurgitated talking points to a cult incapable of reason and a direct threat to our future."

Another user highlighted Trump's lack of accomplishments, stating, "What triggers Donald most is that he's achieved nothing by the way of talent. His only accolades have come via lying, cheating, paying, or self-appointing. He can barely keep it together at the mention of anyone famous for being skilled or attractive. He knows he is a fraud."

A third user described Trump as "literally whiniest, most petulant manchild on the planet," while a fourth predicted, "Trump just committed electoral suicide in NJ/NY."

Another commenter mocked Trump's crowd size compared to Springsteen's, stating, "He WISHES he could have a Springsteen crowd. All he has here are a bunch of beachwalkers and a paid sign-holding crowd behind him."

A sixth user mentioned, "Bigger than #BruceSpringsteen ?? In your dreams ya moron." Others criticized Trump's behavior, with one user writing, "Pompous Ass. You are so untrustworthy you have to pay in advance for venues." Another defended Springsteen, stating, "You don't insult The Boss. Trump has finally gone too far."
