NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: Renowned Trump biographer Tim O'Brien delivered a bombshell warning to the former president's legal team on Thursday, May 2, cautioning them that they may never see their paychecks if they fail to meet Donald Trump's expectations.

O'Brien, who has extensively written about Trump's business dealings and personal life, pulled no punches during an appearance on MSNBC, where he bluntly stated that the real estate mogul has a history of not paying attorneys who don't perform to his satisfaction, as reported by HuffPost.

O'Brien's ominous words came during an appearance on MSNBC's 'Deadline: White House' show hosted by Nicolle Wallace. Wallace had remarked that many of Trump's previous attorneys found themselves in hot water after representing the controversial figure. "You don't have many people who have come out better for it," she stated.

O'Brien agreed, delivering a firm message: "I don't think there are any." He then proceeded to unveil the potential pitfall awaiting Trump's current set of lawyers. "If you don't perform well in front of Donald Trump, he won't pay his bills," O'Brien declared.

The biographer further elaborated on the challenging situation Trump's legal representatives often find themselves in.

Former President Donald Trump listens as his attorney Todd Blanche speaks during a press conference at 40 Wall Street after a pre-trial hearing on March 25, 2024 in New York City. Judge Juan Merchan scheduled Trump's criminal trial to begin on April 15, which would make it the first criminal prosecution of a former American president. Trump was charged with 34 counts of falsifying business records last year, which prosecutors say was an effort to hide a potential sex scandal, both before and after the 2016 election. "This sort of trade off that, 'I'll get publicity or I'll get a good paycheck, and it'll be worth whatever professional and personal embarrassments I suffer on the way to that road show,' I think it often doesn't come together for people," he cautioned.

O'Brien also took aim at Trump attorney Todd Blanche's courtroom conduct, labeling it "performative" and "disastrous." While acknowledging that Blanche might be a "calm, collected, sober-minded person" in his regular life, O'Brien lambasted his behavior in the Trump case as "buffoonish."

O'Brien's scathing critique of Blanche came on the heels of a New York Times report that revealed Trump had been privately venting his frustrations with Blanche's legal strategy.

According to the report, Trump repeatedly lamented about Blanche's failure to follow his instructions precisely and his lack of aggression in attacking witnesses, the jury pool, and even the judge presiding over the case.

Internet rallies behind Tim O'Brien's warning to Trump's lawyers

O'Brien's warning to Trump's lawyers resonated with many on the internet, prompting a wave of reactions backing the biographer's stance.

One YouTube user said, "AKA you're not getting paid, no matter what," while another commented, "Just the typical Trump Cheapskate Scheme. And THAT'S why you don't hire on with Trump if you want to preserve your professional prospects."

Another user noted, "He already stiffed so many lawyers, these ones demanded payment up front," and a fourth advised, "If you do work for Trump, get paid in advance, or don't do it." A fifth user expressed disbelief, stating, "Can't believe that anyone is stupid enough to work for Trump without demanding full payment up front."

A sixth user observed, "Honestly don't know why any attorney would take Trump as a client. It's all bad; not being paid, his tantrums, and possible defamation at the end, etc." A seventh user remarked, "Being a Trump lawyer must be the hardest job in America."

Finally, an eighth user criticized, "Any lawyer who takes his case is dangerously incompetent for thinking he's going to pay them."
