WASHINGTON, DC: Veteran sportscaster Bob Costas criticized the Democratic Party for seemingly taken aback by President Joe Biden's performance in the debate last month, saying it was "obvious" that he had been declining for some time.

The NBC Sports icon made an appearance on CNN's 'Smerconish' on Saturday morning, July 13, in response to the party's general unhappiness after Biden's appalling performance. In order to find a stronger candidate to defeat the former president Donald Trump, he blasted liberals for failing to acknowledge Biden's mental decline sooner.

What did Bob Costas say?

"That one atrocious night was simply writ-large what could be seen for years and years, that he is in serious decline," Costas said, as per Fox News. He added that it "makes you wonder whether we’ve been gaslit by the Democrats."

The conversation began when host Michael Smerconish questioned the former NBC sports anchor about whether or not Joe Biden's collapse during the debate really caught everyone off guard or if only courageous individuals like Costas dared to voice what everyone else was too afraid to address until Biden's latest performance drew attention to it.

In her lifetime she was an activist and writer known to be an advocate for the elderly, affordable housing, mental health, and the protection of monarch butterflies. Bob Costas said it's 'overwhelming obvious' Democrats were aware of Joe Biden's declining health

"Yeah, I think it’s the latter and it only became more overwhelmingly obvious with the debate performance," he said, adding that people who are defending Biden as having one bad night aren’t seeing what has been the case "for years."

He said, "Nobody should be president when they‘re 85 or 86, including the ghost of Abraham Lincoln, but this guy is clearly in decline at this point. And part of the job, leaving aside whether he can do it for the next four years, is winning the job. And as you just laid out that seems to be nearly impossible at this point."

Bob Costas criticized Democrats’ argument that the party must come together in support of Joe Biden

Costas then shot down some Democrats' claim that, given how awful Trump is, the party must come together in support of the president. "No," he replied, "that’s exactly why Joe Biden must be ushered out."

The pundit emphasized the importance of his advice at this particular time, mentioning that he has been pushing the party to remove Biden for more than a year. "Now, we can no longer indulge [Biden’s] delusions. These are desperate times and they call for measures that are appropriate to the circumstances," he added.

Smerconish continued by saying that individuals like actor George Clooney, who recently called out Biden's decline in a New York Times op-ed, would have continued to act as though Biden was fine if it weren't for the debate.

Costas slammed that attitude, saying, "This has been so overwhelmingly obvious for so long. You don’t need a degree in public policy from Harvard to see it and to say it – if you’re willing to say it – anymore than you need a degree from MIT to say two plus two is four. And it makes you wonder whether we’ve been gaslit by the Democrats."

"This had to have been obvious to people surrounding the president, people who observed the president," he said, asking, "Wouldn’t it have been an act of patriotism, if that’s not too overblown a word in this case, to lay that out?"

Internet agrees with Bob Costas as onslaught of Joe Biden camp continues

Netizens agreed with Costas after he lashed out at the Democrats for intentionally ignoring Biden's declining health for the past several months. Several prominent personalities and politicians have urged Biden to step down as the nominee for the Democrats following his disastrous debate performance.

One X user tweeted, "Add it to the list of things of other things they have ‘gaslit’ America over." Another opined, "America wasn’t gaslit, we knew it, its just that we have people in our government who wanted to ignore it for their own personal reasons. So much corruption in our government, and I hope that this will expose it."

"America has been 'gaslit' for 4 years," remarked one while another jibed, "Some of us have known for quite a while."
