HARTFORD, CONNECTICUT: A fiery debate erupted this week between two veteran TV hosts over a speech given by presidential contender Nikki Haley. Former Fox News host Megyn Kelly took aim at 'The View’s Sunny Hostin for questioning the authenticity of Haley’s emotional display while discussing her husband’s military service, as per OK Magazine.

In the crosshairs was Hostin’s skepticism over the sincerity of the Republican’s tears. The clash sparked a strong reaction online, with the majority vocally favoring Kelly’s impassioned defense of Haley's family against Hostin’s doubts.

Megyn Kelly takes a swipe at Sunny Hostin for skepticism about Nikki Haley’s emotional display

On Tuesday, February 20, Haley gave a tearful speech in South Carolina defending her husband after recent criticism from former president Donald Trump, who appeared to mock Haley's husband for being away during her campaign. Haley’s husband is currently deployed in Africa with the National Guard.

During a recent episode of ABC’s 'The View', Hostin expressed skepticism about Haley’s emotional display in South Carolina on Tuesday, February 20. "I didn't feel that it was authentic and I didn't trust it," Hostin remarked. "I guess I have a dark heart."

She theorized that Haley’s tears were a political ploy to boost her popularity, just as approval ratings rose when she previously defended her husband from attack. "So I read into this moment, 'If I now throw in a little tear, my approval ratings will go up again,'" Hostin said.

Kelly wasted no time responding on her Thursday, February 22, podcast. After playing Hostin’s clip, she quipped, "I like that she owns her dark heart."

Sunny Hostin and Megyn Kelly's opposing views

This is not the first clash between Hostin and Kelly's opposing perspectives. Hostin recently described an uncomfortable experience years ago appearing alongside Kelly on Fox News’ 'The O’Reilly Factor'.

"It was Megyn Kelly on one side and I was on the other. What I did learn was how to lean in to being on television, because, I will tell you, she was fine and it was great and we would talk, and that red light came on and she became a completely different person, a very telegenic person, very aggressive, assertive, and it caught me off guard," Hostin recounted.

She admitted being unprepared for Kelly’s camera-ready TV persona. "I only need to experience that once," Hostin said about holding her own during the segment.

Internet backs Megyn Kelly while denouncing Sunny Hostin’s skepticism

It didn’t take long for the internet to vehemently back Megyn Kelly while denouncing Hostin’s skepticism.

One user on YouTube lambasted Hostin, declaring, "Sunny is the definition of bias. She is completely subjective with her viewpoints. She is like a blind person in a museum describing what she sees. She really doesn’t know much."

Another user, emphasizing Hostin's alleged lack of empathy, commented, "Sunny showed she hasn't ever cared about someone in active duty."

A third individual noted, "She'd have to have a heart before she can have a dark heart!" while another remarked, "Hostin has NO HEART."

One user took a direct swipe at Hostin's authenticity, stating, "Sunny herself is disingenuous."

Another user chose to express their disapproval more emphatically, declaring, "Sunny is useless."
