NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: On Tuesday, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis called for the expulsion of Squad member Representative Ilhan Omar as well as the revocation of her citizenship and deportation from the United States.

This call came in response to a speech given by Omar on January 27, where critics alleged that she prioritized the interests of Somalis over Americans.

In the viral clip, Omar, who was born in Somalia, appeared to assure her constituents that she would use her influence to prevent the breakaway Republic of Somaliland from entering into a sea-access deal with Ethiopia.

Following this news, Fox News host Sean Hannity took to X, formerly known as Twitter to share DeSantis bashing Omar and many people on the internet agreed with the governor’s remarks.

Sean Hannity reports on Ron DeSantis unloading on Ilhan Omar

Fox News anchor Sean Hannity took to X and wrote, “'EXPEL AND DEPORT!': DeSantis Unloads on Ilhan Omar After Squad Rep Puts America Last. DeSANTIS: 'Expel from Congress, denaturalize and deport!'"

Hannity’s tweet presented an article from his official website which stated that Florida governor Ron DeSantis reacted brutally to the comments of Squad rep Ilhan Omar and demanded she should be expelled from Congress and deported following her comments on Somali interests above Americans.

DeSantis took to X and wrote, “Expel from Congress, denaturalize and deport!”

The recent controversy surrounding Minnesota lawmaker Omar began when she delivered a Somali-language speech to community leaders at a Minneapolis hotel on Saturday night.

In her address, Omar strongly criticized the Ethiopian government's plans to enter into a sea access deal with the breakaway Republic of Somaliland.

A translated video of Omar's remarks, shared by DeSantis, quoted her as saying, "The US government will only do what Somalians in the US tell them to do. They must do what they want and nothing else. They must follow our orders, and that is how we will safeguard the interest of Somalia."

Omar further asserted, “The US is a country where one of your daughters is in Congress to represent your interest,” referring to herself.

“For as long as I am in the US Congress, Somalia will never be in danger, its waters will not be stolen by Ethiopia or others … Sleep in comfort, knowing I am here to protect the interests of Somalia from inside the US system.”

Internet support Ron DeSantis remarks against Ilhan Omar

Many X users agreed and backed Ron DeSantis’ remarks against Ilhan Omar.

One person wrote, “If only they could deport her. The very least they should do is expel her. She can’t serve the people of the United States, she doesn’t deserve a seat in Congress,” and another said, “He's not wrong.”

An X user simply agreed with DeSantis, “Exactly well said,” and another wrote, “Agree, it’s time for Americans to take back the country and throw out anyone who isn’t a Patriot.”

One more person slammed Omar, “She should have been expelled a long time ago,” and another added, “Sooner Omar is expelled the better. Boot her out.”
