LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Elon Musk has opened up about his use of ketamine as he claimed that the prescription drug has proven beneficial for Tesla investors.

In a recent video interview with Don Lemon, the Tesla CEO delved into various topics including content moderation on X (formerly Twitter), politics, and Tesla's performance in the market.

Elon Musk reveals he took a small amount of ketamine every week

Musk revealed in the interview posted online on Monday, March 18 that ketamine helped him manage a "negative chemical state" similar to depression.

He told the former CNN host Don Lemon that he had a doctor’s prescription for ketamine and estimated that he took "a small amount every other week."

The tech mogul defended ketamine usage in response to Lemon's question of whether Musk worries that the drug "may get in the way of your government contracts and clearances and Wall Street as well," and what his prescription was intended for.

A week after Lemon revealed that Musk canceled an exclusive partnership that 'The Don Lemon Show' had with the social media platform, X, he posted the interview on X and YouTube.

Elon Musk denied reports of his usage of several drugs

In January, a Wall Street Journal investigation stated that the Space X CEO had used several drugs including ecstasy, LSD, cocaine, and psychedelic mushrooms.

This raised concern among executives and board members at his companies, particularly regarding the illegal drug use leading to a violation of federal policies that could jeopardize the government contracts of Space X.

Citing individuals familiar with the issue, the Journal reported that one Tesla director did not stand for the 2019 re-election to the board after she grew frustrated with Musk's behavior.

In response to the Journal report, Musk took to X in January stating that he agreed to three years of random drug testing following a request from the National Aeronautics and Space Administration or NASA, SpaceX's partner.

“Not even trace quantities were found of any drugs or alcohol,” said Musk, according to New York Post.

Internet mocks Elon Musk as he defends ketamine usage

Following Musk's claim that the use of ketamine is beneficial to his investors, netizens ridiculed the businessman.

"I agree. His private medical prescriptions should be private," a user wrote on X and another user tweeted, "I'm sure he writes it off as a business expense too."

"That’s basically what every drug addict is saying," a user wrote while another user opined, "This is concerning. it would frighten me to invest in any company where it’s leader is under the influence of drugs while making critical decisions."
