NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: The US Supreme Court made a significant decision regarding the eligibility of former President Donald Trump for state primary ballots on Monday, March 4, by overturning a ruling of the Colorado top court.

Several states, including Colorado, Illinois, and Maine, had made efforts to exclude Trump from the GOP primary ballots for the 2024 presidential election citing Section 3 of the 14th Amendment due to his alleged connection to the January 6, 2021, Capitol Hill insurrection.

Soon, Sean Hannity shared his thoughts regarding the ruling on his Fox News show and shared it on X (formerly Twitter), writing, "The Supreme Court preserved the integrity of the primary election process."

Sean Hannity hails SCOTUS' decision to let Donald Trump remain on state primary ballots

On the Fox News segment, Hannity pointed out instances where judges and state officials apparently attempted to disqualify Trump from primary ballots without proper legal proceedings.

He emphasized the importance of the Supreme Court's decision, stating, "Today's decision from the Supreme Court... [nullifies] those rulings, and states have no business with this issue in the first place."

He stressed the potential chaos and alarm caused by such actions, particularly referencing the situation in Colorado. The crux of the matter lies in the interpretation of the term "insurrection" concerning Trump's actions surrounding the Capitol Hill incident.

Hannity highlighted that the Supreme Court acknowledged the possibility of disqualification for insurrection but emphasized that it should occur only through congressional legislation.

He criticized Democrats for immediately floating the idea of disqualification, viewing it as yet another attempt to interfere in the election. Hannity called Rep Jamie Raskin's plan to kick Trump off election ballots "another pathetic desperate ploy from the left to interfere in the election."

The Fox News host emphasized that despite the legal hurdles faced by Trump, he has never been charged with insurrection under a criminal statute. To provide clarity, Hannity cited Title 18, US Code 2383, which outlines penalties for insurrection against the US.

Hannity questioned the Biden-led Department of Justice for not pursuing charges against the ex-POTUS regarding a possible insurrection, suggesting that they knew such efforts would not hold up in court.

The journalist expressed gratitude for SCOTUS' decision, saying, "Thankfully, today the Supreme Court issued the correct decision, preserving the integrity of our public and primary process".

Internet reacts to Sean Hannity's remarks regarding SCOTUS' decision to restore Donald Trump on state primary ballots

In light of Hannity's statements regarding the SCOTUS' decision on the issue of Trump's ballot ban, netizens took to share their views regarding the situation.

One wrote, "The Supreme Court did the right thing in a unanimous decision (9-0). This wasn’t a ruling in favor of Donald Trump or against Joe Biden — or against the Colorado Supreme Court. It was simply a ruling to affirm the Constitution of the United States of America."

Another declared, "Sir Donald prevails as always! Our lord and savior will rise again and save America."

A person who did not agree with Hannity said, "No the Supreme court Judges didn't," and someone else added, "Did you forget Jan 6 2021 Where was the integrity then?"
