WASHINGTON, DC: Hunter Biden is scheduled to testify in private on Wednesday, February 28 at a deposition related to the House's investigation of President Biden's involvement in overseas business dealings.

It's unclear how the son of President Biden, who frequently put his father in touch with his business associates in China and Ukraine, will respond to questions from the House committees spearheading the investigation.

Investigators on the panel have also probed a purported cover-up by the Justice Department aimed at protecting Joe and Hunter Biden.

The First Son defied an original subpoena and contended that his father was innocent of any crime in a defiant 5-minute statement outside the Capitol on December 13, 2023, which may have been a sneak peek to his testimony.

At the time, Hunter said, "Let me state as clearly as I can: my father was not financially involved in my business, not as a practicing lawyer, not as a board member of [Ukrainian energy company] Burisma, not in my partnership with a Chinese private businessman, not in my investments at home nor abroad and certainly not as an artist."

As Hunter disregarded the subpoena, White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said at the time that Joe Biden "was certainly familiar with what his son was going to say," possibly strengthening the case against the President in any articles of impeachment for obstruction of Congress.

Although there is evidence that he frequently spoke with their colleagues, President Biden insisted as a contender in the 2020 election that he "never" talked business with Hunter or the commander-in-chief's brother James Biden. He reaffirmed this claim in December.

Joe Biden met with his son's friends from two business transactions connected to the Chinese government, as well as individuals from Mexico, Kazakhstan, Russia, and Ukraine, according to emails, witness accounts, and even images.

Joe Biden directed US foreign policy toward those nations while serving as vice president, which is when many of the encounters took place.

Before Hunter's testimony on Wednesday, House Oversight Committee chairman James Comer (R-Ky) stated that the investigation would not end with the First Son's deposition.

"This deposition is not the conclusion of the impeachment inquiry. There are more subpoenas and witness interviews to come," Comer said.
