COLUMBIA, SOUTH CAROLINA: After making his endorsements clear for Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump, Senator Tim Scott of South Carolina claimed the general public has more to worry about than the the whopping $83.3 million defamation lawsuit against the former president.

Appearing on the Sunday, January 28, episode of ABC News' ‘This Week’, the Republican Senator claimed the voters think more about how the quality of their lives will be improved under a president rather than thinking about the president’s legal matters.

Tim Scott claims voters are unperturbed by lawsuit against Donald Trump

Appearing on the interview, Scott said, "The one thing I think the electorate is thinking about most often is, how in the world will the next president impact my quality of life?"

While propagating his idea, Scott seemed to have dismissed last week’s ruling by a New York jury that ordered the 77-year-old veteran politician to pay columnist E Jean Carroll $83.3 million in a defamation case

Carroll accused Trump of sexually assaulting her in the dressing room of a Manhattan department store three decades ago.

Scott alleged that instead of focusing on Trump’s legal matters, the voters are rather thinking of the betterment of the nation while wishing “they were better off under Trump,” per Newsmax.

Even though Trump was ordered to pay $83.3 million to Carroll, he vowed he would be appealing the verdict while denying the columnist’s claims.

Scott further claimed the jury’s decision has not been successful in changing his opinion about Trump, while saying "Myself and all the voters that support Donald Trump support a return to normalcy as it relates to what affects their kitchen table.”

He further claimed that such legal proceedings are in fat, helping him more, saying, "The average person in our country, they're not talking about the lawsuits."

He said the "perception that the legal system is being weaponized against Donald Trump is actually increasing his poll numbers".

This is, however, not the only criminal case that Trump is battling. The former President is also facing 91 felony criminal charges in New York, Florida, Georgia and Washington, DC, per The Messenger.

Internet shreds Tim Scott

Social media users flocked in to castigate Tim Scott for his words.

One of the social media users said, "Souls are selling mighty cheaply nowadays."

Someone else remarked, "I guess it’s only us above average folks."

"Pathetic Trump minion Sen Tim Scott says, "Myself and all the voters that support Donald Trump supports a return to normalcy as to [how it] affects their kitchen table." Trump is a chaos agent who hopes to ride the whirlwind he creates to become dictator. That's not normalcy," declared another user.

Someone else remarked, "I couldn’t have less respect for a human being than I have for Tim Scott. He’s pathetic."

"The shameless hypocrisy evidenced by Tim Scott on behalf of Trump is pathetic," slammed another user.
