LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Director Adam McKay has shelved Netflix's political satire 'Average Height, Average Build' reported The Hollywood Reporter.

Described as part serial killer-thriller, part comedy, the movie was set to feature Robert Pattinson playing an eccentric serial killer, with a supporting cast that included Amy Adams and Robert Downey Jr, Forest Whitaker, and Danielle Deadwyler.

"With the climate emergency having escalated a great deal, Adam McKay has decided to make his next directorial project a climate-related one, so he will not be directing Average Height, Average Build," a spokesperson for McKay said. The director will continue with Netflix for this untitled project on climate change.

What was the plot of 'Average Height, Average Build'?

The movie had an intriguing plot just like the director's previous movies.

The movie would have followed Pattinson's serial killer character, who planned to seek the assistance of a lobbyist, played by Adams, to help him change laws in his favor that would allow him to get away with murder more easily and Downey as a retired police officer determined to do everything possible his power to thwart the serial killer's plans.

Adam McKay had planned late summer shoot before movie was scrapped

Reportedly, 'Average Height, Average Build' had difficulty finding producers, with several studios passing it, citing budget issues or the project's dark subject matter after it was announced in March.

In April, Netflix officially acquired the movie, reuniting McKay with the streaming giant after the record-breaking film 'Don't Look Up'.

The movie's script was already complete, and the director planned a late summer shoot in Boston before the SAG-AFTRA strike halted the industry, as per The Hollywood Reporter.
