LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: With 12 incredible seasons under his belt, Larry David is prepared to bid adieu to his beloved program, 'Curb Your Enthusiasm'.

In an "exit interview" with Willie Geist on Sunday Today, ahead of Sunday (April 7) night's 'Curb Your Enthusiasm' series finale, Larry offered his most compelling justification to date for bringing the venerable HBO comedy to a stop after 12 seasons and almost 25 years.

Larry David explains true reason for ending 'Curb Your Enthusiasm'

On the April 7 episode of 'Sunday Sitdown', Larry David, 76, who plays a semi-fictionalized version of himself in the show, shared with Willie Geist the true reason for his decision to cancel his beloved series.

"You know, I’m kinda old. Let’s not beat around the bush. I’m too old to really be on camera every single week now, to act the way I do on this show," Larry told Willie.

Larry continued, "How can I continue to act like that? It’s insane. I could do it in my 50s and 60s and mid-70s. I’m not going into the 80s acting like that!"

When asked by Willie, who appeared in an episode of the last season as himself, if there is "any shred of sentimentality" that comes with saying goodbye, Larry responded, "Maybe a shred, the slightest shred."

"Well, nothing’s really hit me yet, so I can’t say that I’m sentimental about it," he added.

Larry claimed he drew inspiration from his personal experiences to shape his character in 'Curb Your Enthusiasm'.

"I’m doing this character, Larry, who is really me, but a me who can’t really be in society ‘cause I’d be arrested or beaten up every day," he joked. "But here, I have the license to really be who I am, which is that guy."

That being said, Larry clarified, the show's true brilliance lies in its lack of scripting.

"That’s what makes it so much fun. The actors and the cast, they kill me. I couldn’t imagine ever having more fun in my life than I did doing that show," he remarked.

In the end, Willie was curious if Larry believed Curb had "any chance" of going on following Sunday night's conclusion, to which Larry replied, "No chance," per Daily Beast.

Larry did not reveal anything about what viewers could expect from the series finale. HBO did, however, hint at his old friend Jerry Seinfeld's Sunday, April 7, appearance.
