WASHINGTON, DC: Rep Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) took to the social media platform X (formerly Twitter) on Thursday, November 21, to mock fellow Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga) following the announcement of the latter's new role in the upcoming administration of president-elect Donald Trump.

According to HuffPost, House Oversight Committee chair James Comer (R-Ky) earlier that day named Greene as the chair of a new subcommittee that would work alongside the newly formed unofficial federal agency, the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE).

Headed by entrepreneurs Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy, DOGE is an advisory panel that is devoted to identifying and minimizing funds wasted by the federal government.

House GOP members decided to aid along the process by forming an official subcommittee called Delivering on Government Efficiency, to be headed by Greene.

AOC's tweet on MTG's appointment

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez claimed that she found Marjorie Taylor Greene's appointment hilarious, considering DOGE is not an official federal agency that the latter would have to oversee.

"This is good, actually. She barely shows up and doesn’t do the reading. To borrow a phrase I saw elsewhere, it’s like giving someone an unplugged controller," Cortez posted on X sharing the news.

Referring to Musk and Ramaswamy in the following thread, she wrote, "Absolutely dying at those two now getting assigned the 'privilege' of 'working' with MTG. That is actually hilarious. Enjoy, fellas! Very prestigious post you have there."

Greene, however, appeared chuffed with her appointment, telling Fox News, that the newly formed House Oversight Committee "is the perfect place to support the DOGE mission."

"I’m excited to chair this new subcommittee designed to work hand in hand with President Trump, Elon Musk, Vivek Ramaswamy, and the entire DOGE team," she noted, adding that the subcommittee will provide "transparency and truth to the American people through hearings."

Internet trolls MTG

Netizens were on board with Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez trolling Marjorie Taylor Greene over her appointment. The following tweets demonstrate their takes.

"I’m pretty sure that all of that stupidity in one room will cause a collapse," wrote a user.

"DOGE is obviously a joke if they chose her to chair the subcommittee. This has been a joke from the start but choosing her sets back any gravitas it may have held before," shared another.

"We'll finally get to the bottom of the space lasers and weather machines," quipped a user.

"Trump refused to promote Marjorie Taylor Greene into his administration, then Johnson demoted her to chair a committee for DOGE, an imaginary gov’t dept, that is nothing more than a sewing club gossiping around a kitchen table," jibed one more user.

"Imagine being excited about being appointed to a government department that doesn’t exist & your job is to babysit Elon & the other guy," mocked a user.

"Imagine handing the 'Department of Government Efficiency' to Marjorie Taylor Greene, Elon Musk, and Vivek Ramaswamy. It's like giving the fox, the wolf, and the weasel keys to the henhouse. Efficiency in dismantling reality, maybe," expressed yet another.
