Internet laments Damon Arnette’s ‘wasted life’ after former NFL star arrested on gun and meth charges

RICHARDSON, TEXAS: Once full of promise and potential, former Las Vegas Raiders first-round pick Damon Arnette continues to squander his opportunities in life.
The troubled defensive back was arrested last month in Texas on gun and drug charges, the latest misstep in a pattern of concerning behaviors that have derailed a once-rising football career, as per Daily Mail.
Just a few years after being selected 19th overall in the NFL Draft, the 27-year-old finds himself without a team and facing another legal case. For many, Arnette represents the all-too-common story of wasted talent and poor decisions.
Damon Arnette was arrested for possession of methamphetamine
Arnette was arrested last month in Texas and charged with possession of methamphetamine and unlawful carrying of a firearm. The January 6 arrest marks the latest troubling incident for the talented yet troubled defensive back.
Just months prior, Arnette received a community service sentence after pleading guilty to drawing a deadly weapon during an altercation with Las Vegas casino valets. The judge in that case ordered Arnette to stay away from firearms.
In 2021, while still with the Raiders, he posted a concerning social media video where he repeatedly threatened to kill someone while waving what appeared to be semi-automatic weapon. That video led to his release from the team shortly after.
Damon Arnette's legal representatives insist he was wrongly accused
However, Arnette's legal representatives insisted that their client was wrongly accused. Jason Lampert of Salzano, Ettinger, Lampert & Wilson, LLP and Thomas Wynne of Milner Wynne issued a statement claiming that Arnette's arrest was based on his inability to provide proof of a lawful medication prescription.
"Our client, at the time of the stop, was unable to provide law enforcement with his prescription for a lawful medication," the statement read. "The arrest was predicated on Mr Arnette being unable to prove the medication was prescribed."
