'He has some great writers': Bill Maher lauded for sharing special message about Santa and climate change
MANHATTAN, NEW YORK: Bill Maher, known for his political satire and socio-political commentary, shared an important message about Santa and climate change in a tweet from his show 'Real Time with Bill Maher'.
Bill Maher, in a tweet from his show 'Real Time with Bill Maher', shared an important message with the caption, "Oh look, kids - it’s Uncle @BillMaher with an important message about Santa (and climate change)."
'Santa is dead'
Maher began his narration with, "You know it's just secret that climate change is real and we're all doomed, what's clear is that the grown-ups aren't going to do anything so I decided to reach out to the kids and try to get their attention about global warming with my new children's book 'Santa is Dead'."
He narrated from the book, "Liberals tried to warn about climate change till their faces turned red and then the polar icecaps did melt and now Santa is dead. You're being alarmist Republicans said but Christmas is canceled because Santa is dead."

He continued, "Yes Virginia your letter was read. Get a grip girl. I'm telling you Santa is dead. His workshop is flooded the reindeer have fled. You're not getting an Xbox coz Santa is dead. The cookies have mercury; the sugarplum has landed; the eggnog is arsenic and Santa is dead. So don't leave him cookies don't look for his sled don't wake us in the morning because Santa is dead."
Maher ended by wishing everyone 'Merry Christmas', which may seem contradictory to the serious tone of the video.
Symbolic death of Santa
One of the key insights of the poem was climate change.
Maher highlighted that climate change is a real and imminent threat that needs urgent attention. It is not just a secret, and action is necessary to prevent further damage, according to him.
Maher criticized the lack of action from grown-ups regarding climate change, suggesting that the responsibility falls on adults to address the issue but implied that they have failed to do so effectively.
Thus, as an effort to convey his views, he symbolized the consequences of climate change by depicting Santa's death. This metaphorical approach aims to emphasize the severity of the situation and the potential loss of beloved traditions if we do not address climate change.
Consequently the Internet left compliments on the comment section with one saying, "He has some great writers for this show...".
Another wrote, "What a heartwarming story".
A user wrote, "1 1 2015 Dear Bill, Spot on...You and the team are the best! However, since I am a Virginia, I am not quite sure I am ready to proclaim Santa is dead... Be great to see you on January 9 2015. Until then, be well and all the best. Cordially, Virginia (latitude 38°, longitude 122°)."
"OMG this is f**king brilliant. I NEED THAT BOOK," read another comment.
