WASHINGTON, DC: Senator JD Vance (R-Ohio), who is reportedly on Donald Trump’s vice presidential shortlist, expressed that there would be "a little bit of disappointment" if he is not picked as the former president's running mate.

In an interview with Fox News Channel's 'FOX & Friends', Vance and his wife Usha joined Lawrence Jones to discuss the possibility of becoming the next second family.

Vance, who once criticized Trump, has since become one of the his staunchest supporters and is now rumoured to be among his top contenders for vice president.

During the interview, when Jones asked the Ohio senator if the Trump campaign has informed him about being vetted, Vance confirmed that the campaign has reached out.

However, he noted that he believes the campaign has "reached out to a lot of people.”

“My best guess is they’re looking at me, and they’re looking at a lot of other people, too, and they’ll ask me if they ask me, and if they don’t, that’s fine,” said Vance.

He also acknowledged that he would feel a bit disappointed if not chosen as a running mate, a natural human reaction to missed opportunities.

“And so, when you know this thing’s a possibility, if it doesn’t happen, there’s certainly going to be a little bit of disappointment,” said Vance.

“But I think the bigger this is, it’s such a cool thing to get that job that I do," he continued, adding that his role as a father remains paramount regardless of the outcome.

"That’s not going to change, whether Trump asked me to be vice president or not," he said.
