The youngest son of former President Trump received a warm welcome with cheers and applause during his first appearance on the campaign trail at a rally in Doral, Florida, in July.

"A very young man. He's now going to college -- got into every college he wanted to and he made his choice," said the GOP nominee, adding, "And he’s a very good guy. ... This is the first time he’s ever done this." 

At one point, the 18-year-old waved and pumped his fist as the audience chanted, "Barron! Barron! Barron!"

The 17-year-old's emotional response led former White House press secretary Jen Psaki to post, "Team Gus Walz," on X (formerly Twitter). 



 

"Tim Walz was 100 percent pitch perfect, grand slam, touchdown in every possible way. And yet somehow Gus Walz was even better," shared Kate Bedingfield, who served as the White House Communications Director in the Biden administration from 2021 to 2023. 



 

Gus Walz’s emotional DNC moment sparks comparisons to Barron Trump

After Gus Walz's tearful response to his father Tim Walz's speech went viral, social media users started drawing comparisons to Barron Trump.

One said, "Ever see Barron Trump crying while pointing at his dad on stage saying "THATS MY DAD,'" attaching a GIF with the caption, "UHMM... I DON'T THINK SO!" 

Another noted, "I don’t think Barron Trump cries tears like a normal person. Gus Walz is a gem." One more remarked, "Not just Barron. Any of his kids!"
