Update: Nika King's joke about not paying the rent, was construed as true as fans sent in their support.

The actress later clarified that in a new statement that she was joking.

“My reference about Euphoria during my stand-up tour was a lighthearted joke. Most people have seen me portray serious characters on-screen but my roots are in comedy,” she told The Hollywood Reporter. “I actually have a few film projects releasing this year that I’m excited about. It’s a blessing to craft a career in both drama and comedy.”

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Nika King, known for her role as Leslie Bennett on HBO's 'Euphoria', caused a stir on social media when she said she hasn't been able to pay her rent for six months. She also expressed the need for a third season of the show to help cover her bills.

King, an American actress and comedian, gained recognition for portraying the mother of Zendaya's character Rue Bennett in 'Euphoria'. She began her career in Hollywood as a stand-up comedian in 2002.

Nika King reveals struggle to pay rent and calls for 'Euphoria' Season 3

As reported by TMZ, King shared her financial struggles during a stand-up gig at the Los Angeles Improv. Her candid admission about being broke garnered sympathy from many social media users.

During her set, King addressed the uncertainty around 'Euphoria' Season 3, stating, "Season 3 is coming out, I don't f**king know. Don't ask me, I don't know."

She humorously emphasized her own need for the new season, exclaiming, "We need Season 3!" and I’m like, "B***h, I need Season 3!"" King then confessed, "I haven’t paid my rent in six months!"

According to the Daily Mail, King jokingly called for Zendaya, her co-star in 'Euphoria', to return for the new season, saying, "Zendaya’s over in Paris at Fashion Week, and I’m like, 'B***h, come home! I need you! Mama needs you!'"

Despite the audience's laughter, King clarified the seriousness of her situation, expressing, "You're laughing and I’m serious. I haven’t booked nothing since Euphoria. This is some bulls**t. I thought my career was on the rise after Euphoria, I thought I was good. It don’t work that way."

She recounted seeking advice from fellow actress Taraji P Henson, who bluntly told her, "B***h, get used to it."



 

As per the Daily Mail, 'Euphoria' Season 2 concluded in February 2022. The production of 'Euphoria Season 3' has faced delays due to the SAG and WGA strikes and the busy schedules of its stars.

The upcoming season is slated for release on Max in 2025, marking a two-year gap from the previous season, similar to the hiatus between the first and second seasons.
