Internet sends prayers as Greg Vaughan is diagnosed with severe altitude sickness during snowboarding trip with his sons

SUMMIT COUNTY, COLORADO: Greg Vaughan, the 50-year-old alum of ‘Days of Our Lives’, is currently recovering after being diagnosed with severe altitude sickness.

He shared his condition on Instagram after being hospitalized during his sons’ spring break vacation in Colorado.

Vaughan humorously began his lengthy Instagram caption with a reference to Forrest Gump, stating, “Life is like a box of chocolates, ‘you never know whatcha gonna get!’” adding “you never know whatcha gonna get."

He expressed that he often feels like he’s living in a soap opera and that this "trip was nothing short of another great Vaughan adventure!." 

The actor, who has been a regular on ‘Days of Our Lives’ since 2012, took his sons to Breckenridge, Colorado, for a skiing and snowboarding trip.

However, after just one day in the snowy mountains, he began experiencing symptoms such as fatigue, headaches, congestion, and shortness of breath.

Despite hydrating throughout the day and taking over-the-counter remedies like Pedialyte and NyQuil, Vaughan’s condition did not improve. He described his discomfort saying, “My head felt like it was in a walnut cracker!”

After another night of illness, Vaughan realized he needed medical attention and went to urgent care.

"I was mentally spinning trying not to think of having another horrible night or losing another day w/ my boys … but I did," Vaughan said.

"Two full days gone, enough was enough, I finally surrendered & went to urgent care," he said.

To his shock, he was diagnosed with severe altitude sickness with his blood oxygen level at 54% and his lungs filled with fluid, People reported. 

In another post, he shared, "In all seriousness, no matter your age... Colorado Rockies is no joke! As they say, “take a breathe and smell the roses!” That is truly something we need to remember & appreciate!."'

Upon sharing his ordeal, Vaughan received an outpouring of support from his fans.

Comments on his Instagram post included messages from fans like, “Please relax and take good care of yourself. You are always helping others, NOW it’s time to take care of you!”

One more comment read, “Sheesh dude. I’m glad you went. That’s no good. Glad they are fixing you up !!!” Another wrote, "You are always in my prayers. Feel better."

Others expressed their good wishes on X, with comments such as “Hope you feel better soon, Mr Vaughan! Love and well wishes!” and “Wishing you a speedy recovery.”

One user even speculated about the cause of his condition, suggesting, “Sounds horrific. Possibly due to an ear infection? I know you should never fly with problems in your ears.”
