WASHINGTON, DC: Areva Martin, a Democratic delegate from California, informed media personality Stephen A Smith that the party would be destroyed if Vice President Kamala Harris was overlooked to succeed President Joe Biden if he withdrew from the contest, according to Fox News

She said on Tuesday, July 2, "If you pick a White man over Kamala Harris, Black women, I can tell you this, we are going to walk away. We are going to blow the party up."

Martin says Black women will 'blow the party up'

In the months leading up to the election, Democrats are openly split on who is suited to challenge outgoing President Trump, as rumors about Biden's leadership role inside the party intensify.

Martin asked Smith, "Who are we agreeing [to]? There's a long list of Democrats, Kamala Harris, Gavin Newsom, Gretchen Whitmer, the list goes on and on."

She added, "Where is their consensus? You've got to build consensus. And there is not consensus right now." Martin said, "So where are we getting agreement from on whom this ideal Democratic candidate should be? Tell me that."

According to Martin, the Biden administration should be commended for its diversity. She said, "Joe Biden, when he gets reelected, which my prediction is that he will, he brings with him Kamala Harris, the most diverse administration in the history of this country."

"Y'all need to just stay the course. We got more Black judges appointed under Joe Biden than anyone, even President Barack Obama," she added.

Moreover, Martin compared the presidential contest to a sporting event, asserting that Biden is the "star player" and deserving of backing.

She told Smith, "I don't know anything about sports, but I know you don't give up on your star player in the middle of a game."

She added, "We are almost at the finish line. We have an opportunity to save this democracy. And I bet you, [if] you blow up Joe Biden, you might as well give Donald Trump the keys to the White House and let him start ruling the country in August."

Internet ridiculed Areva Martin for her statement regarding Democratic party

Several people on the internet grilled Areva Martin as she said that the party would be destroyed if Kamala Harris was overlooked to succeed President Biden if he withdrew from the contest.

Some online comments read, "This will be Biden's legacy. When confronted with a significant decision, we first decide what the players will look like and which boxes they will check, before concerning ourselves with merit" and "Any further proof that the left think in terms of group rather than qualifications? They will burn the party to the ground rather than deviate from the narrative."

A person added, "Unfortunately some put race before quality even if it means not having the most qualified candidate for president," while one wrote, "It’s amazing that our country has gotten to a point where the outside appearance is more important than competence."

A user also stated, "When Kammy dropped out of the Presdential race she was only polling around 3 or 4%. And that was among democrats. Now she is being considered for the nomination? What’s changed? It couldn’t be what she’s done the last 3 1/2 years."
