PITTSBURGH, PENNSYLVANIA: First Lady Jill Biden was out campaigning for her husband at Pittsburgh's annual Pride festival on Saturday, June 1, when she delivered a scathing critique of former President Donald Trump and highlighted the ongoing struggle for LGBTQ+ rights.

In her speech, Biden called Trump “dangerous” to the LGBTQ+ community and warned of the broader implications of his potential re-election.

A strong condemnation of Trump

Speaking at Allegheny Commons Park, Jill Biden did not mince words in her assessment of Trump’s impact on the LGBTQ+ community and the nation.

As quoted by The Advocate, she stated, “Donald Trump is a bully. He’s dangerous to the LGBTQ+ community, to our families, to our country, and we cannot let him win. We have to meet this moment as if our fundamental rights are at stake because they are. We have to meet this moment as if our democracy is on the line because it is.”

In her speech, Jill Biden also highlighted the progress made by the LGBTQ+ community, while acknowledging the challenges that remain. “It shouldn’t take courage to go to school and walk down the halls as the person you know you are, to take someone’s hand on the bus, to kiss them goodbye on the sidewalk,” she said. “But in too many places, it still does.”

Pennsylvania, a crucial battleground state that President Biden won by approximately 80,000 votes in 2020, remains a focal point for the Biden campaign. Despite recent struggles in head-to-head polling against Trump, Jill Biden expressed optimism about their chances in the upcoming election.

“We are going to meet people where they are,” she said on Wednesday. “I’ve been traveling every single day, Joe has been traveling as much as possible, and we’re not going to take anything for granted, and those polls are going to turn, I’m confident of it.”

Warning of disastrous consequences under a Trump presidency

Jill Biden’s appearance on ABC’s 'The View' earlier in the week further highlighted her concerns about a potential Trump presidency. She warned of the dire consequences for human rights if Trump were to be re-elected, Fox News reported.

"We will lose all of our rights," she asserted. “We cannot take things for granted, and think of the Supreme Court for God’s sake. Talk about things getting worse? Can you imagine if we put any more Republicans on the Supreme Court? No!”

Co-host Sara Haines echoed these concerns, highlighting the role women will play in the upcoming election amid divisive issues such as reproductive rights.

"We’ve heard Trump bragging about stripping women’s reproductive rights, 14 states have a total ban on abortion, and now IVF is under attack," Haines said, before asking the FLOTUS how much worse it could be if Trump won the election.

"Well, it could get a lot worse under a Trump presidency," Biden responded. "I mean, you have to believe him when he uses words like ‘dictator,’ ‘bloodbath,’ ‘third term,’ ‘violence,’ we’ve seen it, so when he says these words, believe him. Don’t think this isn’t going to happen."

"And women’s rights? Absolutely, women’s rights and IVF," she continued. "I mean, we have to have a choice, and Joe wants to codify [Roe v Wade] and we have to. We have to fight hard so we get it back because, [co-host] Joy [Behar], you and I remember when Roe became the law, and we kept thinking ‘oh, this won’t be taken away,’ but we cannot take things for granted, because they can."

She emphasized the risk of losing hard-won rights, saying, "We’re talking about women’s rights, gay rights, I mean we will lose our—"

"Voting rights," interjected co-host Whoopi Goldberg, to which Biden agreed. "All of this is up at stake."

FLOTUS slammed on social media

Jill Biden's remarks sparked a wave of criticism on social media, with many accusing her of fear-mongering and using radical rhetoric.

"That's pretty radical rhetoric there doc. Since we've had multiple lgb shooters, you might want to be calling them down, not radicalizing them more," one posted on X.

"It’s all about fear-mongering," another wrote.

"This woman sickens me," someone else fumed.

"Is Jill the head of the Biden crime family?" another asked.
