WASHINGTON, DC: During an interview with The New York Times, Vice President Kamala Harris expressed her concern regarding the Supreme Court's conservative justices, whom she accused of threatening "fundamental freedoms across the board."

Harris claimed, "This court has shown itself to be an activist court," but refrained from providing specific legal precedent that could be affected, since she did not want to come across as "alarmist."

The vice president has made abortion a top priority in her campaign speeches after the Supreme Court overturned Roe v Wade in 2022.

"This court has made it very clear that they are willing to undo recognized rights," Harris stated.

Which Supreme Court justices did Kamala Harris go after during her interview?

During the Dobbs decision, which overturned Roe v Wade, Vice President Kamala Harris referred to Justice Clarence Thomas' opinion and his suggestion to revisit prior judgments concerning contraception and gay marriage.

Justice Thomas' concurring opinion has raised the possibility of the United States Supreme Court revisiting earlier decisions on these issues, per Fox News.

"You could even look at Clarence Thomas saying a lot of the quiet part out loud," Harris explained.

"Just look at what he said and then maybe that gives us some indication. Just look at one of the justices to see where they might go next."

In the interview, Harris made some critical remarks regarding Donald Trump, the 2024 presumptive GOP nominee, and speculated that if elected, he might attempt to implement a national abortion ban.

The former POTUS has previously stated that he believes this issue should be left up to individual states to decide.

When asked if she was troubled by Trump's recent comments on this topic, Harris suggested that the American public would likely see through any such political maneuverings.

"I think the American people recognize when they’re being gaslit and have the ability to decipher beyond the charade," the vice president asserted.

VP Harris also criticized the SCOTUS during a recent talk-show interview with host Drew Barrymore.

The 59-year-old said the Supreme Court justices "took a constitutional right that had been recognized from the women of America."

"How dare they? Think of the notion that some person sitting in some state legislature believes, mostly, that he is in a better position than you to know what's in your best interest," Harris went on to say.

"One does not have to abandon their faith or deeply held beliefs to agree that the government should not be telling her what to do with her body," she remarked.

Internet lambasts Kamala Harris for implying Supreme Court threatens 'fundamental freedoms'

One X user remarked, "Her being VP is all the alarmist that I need."

Another user said, "Hard to believe that she was district attorney in California."

Another user claimed, "Out of the 9 US Supreme Court Justices There are 6 Roman Catholics on the US Supreme Court , it is now badly out of balance and they are not representing the American people, instead they are a great asset to the Republican Party and their agenda now. The “Fix”is in."

One X user wrote, "Really, not wanting to be an alarmist but the highest, most vetted judiciary in the world, could be out to get us. Thanks Kammy."

Another user remarked, "A sitting VP criticizing the Supreme Court. Unheard of. Destabilizing. She is not only unfit to be a Senator, and Attorney General of CA but unequivocally unfit to sit as VP of the United States."

Another user said, "She’s an embarrassment to the office and country."

Finally, this user tweeted, "Imagine her taking over for Biden, when you think it couldn't be any worse, here's Kamala."
