Trump slammed as his bid for mistrial over Stormy Daniels’ bombshell testimony denied in hush money case
MANHATTAN, NEW YORK: In the Manhattan hush money criminal trial of former US President Donald Trump, his request for a mistrial was denied by Manhattan Supreme Court Justice Juan Merchan despite the salacious witness testimony of adult film star, Stormy Daniels, per the New York Post.
The judge ruled that Trump’s attorneys had allowed Daniels to take the stand and “corroborate” her account of the alleged sexual encounter between the two, thus establishing her “credibility” with the jury, after they had previously discredited her as a liar who fabricated her story of having sex with the real estate mogul for monetary gain.
"Your denial puts the jury in a position of having to choose who to believe in, Donald Trump who denies the encounter, or Stormy Daniels," the judge stated.
Trump’s lawyer says Stormy Daniel's testimony 'dog whistle for rape'
Stormy Daniels' testimony regarding an "imbalance of power" between her and Donald Trump, his unwillingness to use a condom, and the fact that his security had been waiting at the door, according to Trump's attorney Todd Blanche, all falsely suggested that Trump had "raped" her.
“It’s a dog whistle for rape," Blanche argued.

Susan Necheles, another Trump attorney, came under fire from Merchan for not objecting to specific elements of Daniels' graphic testimony, such as her "mention of a condom."
“Why on earth she wouldn’t object to the mention of a condom, I don’t understand,” Merchan said.

The presiding judge has also denied the 77-year-old MAGA strongman's request to modify the court's current "gag order" that prohibits him from publicly disparaging Daniels.
The judge opined that allowing Trump to do so would likely intimidate other trial witnesses.
Additionally, prosecutors have announced that Karen McDougal, Trump's other alleged lover who was at the center of the trial, will not be testifying. The hush money trial will resume at 9.30 am on Friday.

One user asked, "Trump should TESTIFY if he is so concerned. The gag order should stand to protect witnesses. Trump can’t just do what he wants. He is a defendant in a criminal trial. Why doesn’t he want to testify?"
