PALM BEACH, FLORIDA: A new report revealed that Judge Aileen Cannon was asked to step aside from former President Donald J Trump’s classified documents case but chose not to do so.

The 43-year-old district judge has lately been in the news for allegedly working in favor of the Republican leader.

Attorney Alina Habba (L) looks on as former U.S. President Donald Trump walks to speak to the media after being found guilty following his hush money trial at Manhattan Criminal Court on May 30, 2024 in New York City. The former president was found guilty on all 34 felony counts of falsifying business records in the first of his criminal cases to go to trial. Judge Cecilia M Altonaga advised Aileen Cannon to rescue herself from Trump’s classified documents case

She has also reportedly faced criticisms for her lack of trial experience and for allegedly dragging the court proceedings so that Trump wouldn't face a ruling before the upcoming election.

The Thursday, June 20, report by The New York Times stated that the chief judge in the Southern District of Florida, Cecilia M Altonaga, approached Cannon soon after the case was given to her.

However, the Florida judge, who was appointed by the presumptive Republican presidential nominee himself, ignored the advice and continued to work on the case.

Former federal prosecutor Gene Rossi slams Judge Aileen Cannon

Commenting on the report, former federal prosecutor Gene Rossi told Newsweek, “It is abundantly clear that Judge Aileen has appeared to have lost all sense of objectivity in this matter.”

Besides, Trump's former lawyer Ty Cobb added, “The 11th Circuit could make her step aside. The worst thing that could happen to her is that she actually does rule for Trump on this because that would go to the 11th Circuit. And then, I think this petty partisan prima donna would be put in her place and they would remove her.”

Netizens accuse Aileen Cannon of ‘sabotaging’ the case

Meanwhile, people have also shared their views online with a person on Facebook writing, “Of course she did…corrupt Judge. Trump seated her why would she step aside from this case. I’m sure he reminds her of it every day.”

Another person commented, “She thinks that she is going to be the next justice on SCOTUS after either Thomas or Alito retire because ORANGE HEAD and McConnell have promised her the appointment.”

“Cannon received a paid vacation from the Federalist Society. She is plant. Don't care how they say they assigned the judges. She is the best Lawyer Trump has ever had. I wonder what other promises they have made to her to stall long enough to help Trump. Roger Stone is already on tape saying they are going to cheat again in 2024 and that they have more lawyers, judges on speed dial, and tech. It's called Gaslight Obstruct and Project for a reason,” a third one stated.

A fourth user said, “I'm an Aussie and cannot believe the ridiculous legal shenanigans this ‘judge’ goes on with. It's so obvious that she's biased to the trumpeter. In Australian courts, she would never cut it.”

A fifth user added, “This Judge can NEVER be trusted. Can Mr Smith have her taken off the case? JUST ASKING.”

“Time to file an official complaint with the 11th district,” a comment read.

Another comment was “Why are you sabotaging this case? Shame on you. You know or should know, tRump is guilty. You should know, he will dump you as soon as he no longer needs you. Do the right thing, recuse your unqualified self from this case!”
