NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: President Joe Biden took to X (formerly Twitter) to share his recent conversation with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Monday, March 18, 2024.

While continuing to support Israel in its assault against Hamas, Biden highlighted the necessity for a ceasefire to provide humanitarian aid to the civilians caught in the crossfire in Gaza. This stance is being construed by netizens as a half-hearted effort by his administration.

Earlier in the month, Vice President Kamala Harris had called for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza for at least six months to "get the hostages out, and get a significant amount of aid in."

However, Israeli government spokesman Eylon Levy told Fox News in an interview that there were no chances of "a ceasefire that leaves the hostages in Gaza or Hamas in power."

The United States is the largest supplier of military aid to Israel and has vetoed UN resolutions calling for an immediate halt of the conflict. On the other hand, they began to airdrop aid packages in Gaza on March 2.

Joe Biden recalls his conversation with Benjamin Netanyahu

"Today, I spoke again with Prime Minister Netanyahu regarding the latest developments in Israel and Gaza," Biden wrote from his official account of POTUS.

"I continued to affirm that Israel has a right to go after Hamas, a group of terrorists responsible for the worst massacre of the Jewish people since the Holocaust," he continued.

"And I reiterated the need for an immediate ceasefire as part of a deal to free hostages, lasting several weeks, so we can get hostages home and surge aid to civilians in Gaza," he said.

"I asked the Prime Minister to send a team to Washington to discuss ways to target Hamas without a major ground operation in Rafah," concluded the President.

Internet to Joe Biden's tweet

"How about we stop funding both sides of wars?" inquired a user on X.

"Stop sending him money & bombs," noted another social media user.

"Business as usual," read a third tweet.

"Great leadership, Brandon. You agree with Netanyahu's strategy but you don't agree with Netanyahu's strategy. Did you come to this solution after 50 years of experience? Maybe 50 years of experience isn't enough for some," said another person.

"So, nothing was accomplished. Seems like an awful lot of words to sum up my last sentence," another said.
