WASHINGTON, DC: Outrage erupted online as the White House came to clean up President Joe Biden’s eyebrow-raising warning that Israel is losing global support in its continued war against Hamas.

The 81-year-old POTUS has been supportive of Israel since October 7 when the Palestinian militant organization bombarded nearly 2000 missiles on the Jewish state, and launched dozens of ground attacks, killing 1400 civilians and kidnapping others.

But on Tuesday, December 12, Biden expressed concern about Israel's indiscriminate bombing during a closed-door political fundraiser in Washington, DC.

"They're starting to lose that support by indiscriminate bombing that takes place," he said, adding, "I think he has to change, and with this government, this government in Israel is making it very difficult for him to move. Bibi's got a tough decision to make. This is the most conservative government in Israel's history."

Biden emphasized the necessity for the Palestinian people to have their own country and accused the Israeli government of not being dedicated to a long-term two-state solution.

"We have an opportunity to begin to unite the region...and they still want to do it. But we have to make sure that Bibi understands that he's got to make some moves to strengthen...you cannot say 'no Palestinian state'...That's going to be the hard part,” the President stated.

What did the White House say about Joe Biden’s remarks?

During Wednesday's press briefing, White House spokesperson John Kirby faced intense questioning about President Biden's motivations when he stated that Israel's conservative government needs to "change" and that the country is losing support globally.

In response, Kirby claimed that Biden was only voicing his worries about the deaths of civilians in Gaza. In addition, he restated Biden's backing for a two-state resolution in response to Netanyahu's declaration that Israeli forces would remain in Gaza long after hostilities had finished.

"He was expressing concerns that that that we continue to see civilian casualties in Gaza and, again, that we want to make sure that as they work to minimize that they actually have those kinds of results that they are able to minimize,' he noted, according to Daily Mail.

When asked about the state of US-Israeli ties and whether Biden was placing restrictions on his backing of the war against Hamas, Kirby responded “He expressed those concerns as a real friend of Israel, somebody who loves and respects Israel and has for his whole public life.”

He also mentioned that Netanyahu and Biden are still friends. “They have a long-standing relationship. They're going to keep that relationship. They're going to keep talking. I think you can expect that he will be talking to Prime Minister Netanyahu in the future about what we can do to continue to support Israel,” he claimed.

Kirby concluded by stating that Biden “still believes that a two-state solution is possible. It's a vision, he understands it right now it can look a little elusive given what's going on in Gaza.”

Internet reacts to John Kirby’s remarks

After Kirby’s remarks surfaced on social media, many users slammed him for trying to clean up Biden’s rebukes.

“All politicians are bought and paid for by them. America has fallen,” one user slammed.

“The delicate balance between expressing concerns and maintaining unwavering support is evident in this statement,” a second user mocked.

“John Kirby is a hypocrite, a two-faced actor in the show called White House 2023,” the third user blasted.

“You hear that? Biden’s poll numbers continuing to TANK,” the fourth user said while the fifth one stated “At this point, Kirby just makes Matt millers job insufferable”

“There goes that bipolar American attitude again," one more wrote.
