NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: 'The View' co-host Sunny Hostin acknowledged that the reduction of former President Trump's court-ordered bond was "appropriate," emphasizing that such payments are not intended to be punitive, on Tuesday, March 26.

The ex-POTUS' bond, initially set at $454 million, was reduced to $175 million by a New York appeals court and his deadline to post the bond was increased by 10 days on Monday, as per CNN

After suggesting that her statement might seem surprising, Hostin expressed, "The lowering of the bond was very appropriate, right? We always say that we want everyone to be treated across the legal spectrum in the same way and that we want the law to apply equally in the same way, bonds are not supposed to be punitive."

The lawyer continued, "They are only supposed to make sure that the person returns to court and answers, you know, whatever charges have been alleged".

"I’m going to take $175 million instead of over $400 million so that you can continue your appeal so that you can continue living your life and doing your business, but to be clear, if he loses that appeal, they get to keep that $175 million, and then he got to pony up with the rest of the money, so this is how it is supposed to work. This is the process," elaborated Hostin.

Whoopi Goldberg chimed in, "As long as he gets treated like everyone else. I would like everyone else to be treated as well as he's being treated."

'The View' co-hosts went on to discuss the other charges Trump is currently facing, focusing on the hush money trial, which is set to begin on April 15. Notably, Trump became the first ex-president in US history to face a criminal trial.

Golberg expressed, "Is it not freaking people out how we’re talking about this? This is a man who said, 'I’m going to perpetrate a coup on the country.' Now, when I was a kid, nobody, if somebody had said that, your face would fall off. Your head would explode. But we talk about this like it’s normal now."

"This is an issue. This is not normal," asserted the EGOT winner.

One wrote, "Interesting," and another stated, "I’m stunned. She may not have a job there for long."

"She'll probably be fired for that," noted a person, while someone else asked, "Why the change of heart."

An individual remarked, "Finally, the big ole hypocrites telling the truth," and one more added, "Good for sunny. The rest of you must have been just biting their tongues."
