WASHINGTON, DC: The most senior liberal member of the conservative Supreme Court, Justice Sonia Sotomayor, admitted to crying occasionally when the court renders its decisions to a Harvard University audience on Friday, May 24. She also hinted that more tears could be in store, according to CNN.

Sotomayor told the Radcliffe Institute for Advanced Study at Harvard University, where she received an award Friday, "There are days that I’ve come to my office after an announcement of a case and closed my door and cried. There have been those days. And there are likely to be more."

Sotomayor made the comments as the Supreme Court approaches the last weeks of a term, during which the justices will rule on several high-profile cases involving abortion and former President Donald Trump's claim of immunity from charges of federal election subversion.

Notably, by the end of June, the court is expected to render those rulings in addition to several others. In her remarks, Sotomayor did not address any particular instances.

Sotomayor has expressed her 'frustration' in the past with the court's rulings. She expressed her displeasure during a speech she gave earlier this year at the University of California, Berkeley School of Law, saying that 'every loss truly traumatizes me in my stomach and in my heart'. She said, "But I have to get up the next morning and keep on fighting.

She stated on Friday, "There are moments when I’m deeply, deeply sad. And there are moments when, yes, even I feel desperation. We all do. But you have to own it. You have to accept it. You have to shed the tears, and then you have to wipe them and get up and fight some more."

Notably, the majority of the court's rulings have been unanimous, as is customary at this time of year, or they have divided along non-ideological lines. However, part of the reason for this is that the court usually deals with less contentious cases first, saving the most contentious legal or political rulings until the end of June.

Moreover, the court has rendered significant rulings recently that have crossed ideological or nearly ideological lines. These rulings include the 2022 overturning of Roe v. Wade, the same year's decision expanding gun rights, and the previous year's decision dismantling affirmative action practices in college admissions.

Sonia Sotomayor trolled for saying she cried over some SC decisions

Many internet users trolled Justice Sonia Sotomayor as she admitted to crying occasionally when the court renders its decisions. A user posted on X, "Crying because you can't get your way? It's time to retire" while one added, "Wait... a Supreme Court justice cries herself to sleep when she doesn't get her way?"

A person also stated, "She was another DEI hire. Mistake" whereas one mentioned, "Did Justice Sonia Sotomayor leak the Dobbs decision? Sure sounds like she did. Maybe she should be investigated and resign. Am I doing this right? After all, she’s fair game if Alito and Thomas are."

A user also wrote, "Hey lady! We don’t give a s*** about your feelings."
