WASHINGTON, DC: During a discussion about the devastating wildfires tearing through Los Angeles on Thursday, January 9, President Joe Biden, 82, managed to drop a pun that left Vice President Kamala Harris struggling to keep a straight face.

While addressing the 60-year-old at the briefing, Biden tried to acknowledge her connection to the disaster as she resides in the Brentwood neighborhood. "Madam Vice President, I know you’re directly affected. So you fire away," he quipped, before offering an awkward smile and then the obligatory, "No pun intended."

Harris was visibly gobsmacked. She froze for a second, probably trying to decide whether to laugh, groan, or pretend it didn’t happen. Instead, she played it cool with a polite, "Indeed."

Internet thinks Kamala Harris is tired of dealing with Joe Biden

While Kamala Harris may have taken the high road, netizens weren't about to let this moment slide.

One said, "Biden’s cracking fire jokes at a wildfire briefing. Kamala’s like, Chill, man!" and another wrote, "I know Kamala is tired of dealing with this and just wants to go home with her hubby."

"Her face says it all. No need for words," someone else pointed out. "She’s 100% over all of this first obama and trump cutting up during the funeral and now this," another chimed in.

"She was about to rip him a new one, he barely made it on time by saying no pun intended," one more quipped. Another person wrote, "She’s matured so much because a cackle was fighting its way out and she didn’t even give it a chance."

One simply said, "Kamala is so over him lmaoooo."

Joe Biden announces he's a great-grandfather during wildfire briefing

During another briefing about the wildfires, Joe Biden decided it was the perfect time to announce some personal news: he’s officially a great-grandfather.

"We're prepared to do anything and everything as long as it takes to contain these fires and help reconstruct, make sure that we can get back to normal. It's gonna be a heck of a long way. It's gonna take time. But the government is here to stay, as long as you need us. Give everything you need," he noted, before abruptly adding, "The good news is I'm a great-grandfather as of today."

Critics on social media pounced on the outgoing president for the same.

One wrote, "A tragedy in California, and Joe Biden finds a way to make it about himself. Unbelievable," and another snarked, "This man is an embarrassment. Who thought this was a good idea?"

"Wildfires, people losing their homes, and he’s talking about being a great-grandpa? Read the room, Joe," one more expressed.

To be fair, Biden wasn’t just about jokes and personal updates in that briefing. He did confirm he had signed off on a federal disaster declaration, which means federal funding will be available to help people affected by the fires.

Biden also announced that the Department of Defense would be stepping in with additional resources and personnel.

But then came another personal anecdote about his son, Hunter Biden, who lives in Malibu. The POTUS shared that Hunter and his wife, Melissa Cohen Biden, had been warned their home might have burned down in the fires.

"It’s astounding what has happened. Only one piece of good news: my son lives out here, and his wife. They got a notification yesterday that their home was probably burned to the ground. Today, it appears that it’s still standing. They’re not sure," the 82-year-old shared.

Photos uncovered by the Daily Mail later revealed that the property did burn to the ground.
