LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: During a recent episode of 'The Daily Show,' host Jon Stewart couldn't help but poke fun at former President Donald Trump's reported lack of engagement during the opening day of his first criminal trial.

Stewart's amusement stemmed from the notion that Trump may have grown so accustomed to committing alleged crimes that he found his own trial tedious.

"Imagine committing so many crimes, you get bored at your own trial," Stewart quipped, highlighting the absurdity of the situation.

Trump's alleged disinterest draws attention during trial coverage

Stewart cited a report by The New York Times' Maggie Haberman, which detailed Trump's trial for allegedly falsifying business records to conceal payments to adult film actress Stormy Daniels.

Haberman's account described Trump appearing to nod off multiple times during proceedings, with his mouth slackening and head drooping onto his chest. This observation was echoed by other media outlets like CNN and The Washington Post.

"He appeared to be asleep, and repeatedly his head would fall down," Haberman told CNN's Jake Tapper, emphasizing Trump's apparent disinterest in the trial.

On his show, Stewart humorously focused on Trump's apparent drowsiness, mimicking snoring sounds and playfully questioning what part of Trump's courtroom demeanor CNN anchor Jake Tapper failed to comprehend.

"There's a piece of paper going up and down and up and down in his mouth," Stewart said, further dramatizing Trump's behavior. "He's asleep."

Trump's history of courtroom drowsiness raises eyebrows amid ongoing legal battles

Furthermore, Haberman noted that Trump's courtroom naps weren't isolated incidents, citing similar instances during past trials, such as the defamation case involving writer E Jean Carroll, in which Trump was ordered to pay substantial damages.

"There have been other moments in other trials like the E Jean Carroll trial, where he appeared very still and seemed as if he might be sleeping," Haberman said, highlighting Trump's recurring courtroom behavior.

Trump's legal entanglements extend beyond the current trial, with ongoing civil and criminal cases, including allegations of attempting to overturn the 2020 election results and mishandling classified documents post-presidency.

Despite Haberman's report and widespread media coverage, the Trump campaign dismissed the notion of Trump dozing off in court as "100% Fake News."

Representatives for Trump have not yet commented on these claims.

Internet reacts to Trump's courtroom behavior

Social media users commented on the widespread criticism of Trump's behavior during his hush money trial.

One user wrote, "Election interference they're doing everything they can to prevent him to."

Another added, "Because the charges are soooo borrring."

One replied, "Like you, nobody likes him."

One user said, "Harry, please don' speak about God. You apparently know nothing about Him. Your laughter at a rival political candidate (and former president) is disrespectful, typical Democrat politics, and is all we need to know about you."

One replied, "Harry did you ever try dating another young person as brainwashed as yourself? The only other young person I could think of would be Greta Thunberg."
