NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: Democratic Senator Chris Coons provided a sharp contrast during his appearance on ‘Morning Joe’ between Donald Trump's recent speeches on immigration and the ongoing legislative efforts in the US Senate and House.

Coons speaking on MSNBC's ‘Morning Joe,’ characterized the former president's language and proposals as "increasingly extreme."

He specifically pointed out Trump's use of language reminiscent of Adolf Hitler, emphasizing that such an approach is counterproductive to the bipartisan efforts underway for immigration reform in both Republican and Democratic circles.

Coons' perspective on Trump's remarks was posted on X (formerly Twitter), sparking numerous comments from X users who shared their thoughts on this news.

Chris Coons calls Donald Trump’s immigration remarks ‘increasingly extreme’

MSNBC's 'Morning Joe' featured Chris Cons, who offered his opinion on Donald Trump's approach.

He said, “This is all in very sharp contrast to former President Trump, who is becoming increasingly extreme in his rhetoric about immigration and his proposals to restore the Muslim ban, use the military to screen and arrest and deport from the center of our country people believed to be undocumented.”

He continued, “His proposals are getting more extreme as we are closing in on a sustainable bipartisan solution.”

Coons clarified that although he wasn't directly engaged in the "small group" of senators negotiating the language of an immigration bill, he remained in "regular touch with them and supported their efforts."

These negotiations expanded to include "both caucuses" of the House, demonstrating a bipartisan approach to addressing the complexities of the bill. Coons emphasized the challenges of drafting the bill, describing it as "very complex and difficult."

As a Democrat from Delaware and a member of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, Coons outlined potential provisions in a supplemental funding bill in the Senate.

This encompassed a budget allocation of $14 billion aimed at "hiring more border patrol agents, installing additional screening facilities to detect fentanyl at our borders, and strengthening overall border security."

Coons further commented, "It is a crucial component of a pathway forward. Republicans and Democrats are currently involved in negotiating policy changes that would complement that investment."

Internet weighs in on Chris Coons' thoughts on Donald Trump’s remarks

Following Chris Coons' commentary on Donald Trump's immigration remarks, numerous users on X (formerly Twitter) voiced their opinions.

One person wrote, “CLOSE THE BOARDERS OR NO DEAL!!” and another questioned Coons, “Has @ChrisCoons talked to a House Republican lately?  I hope he is right but doubt it.”

Another user on X expressed frustration on the border issue, stating, “Border security is one of two issues most prominent on voters’ minds and Democrats have done nothing since Biden took office. Plans, actions and messaging have been non-existent. Democrats are greatly diminishing their standing with swing voters by appearing to do nothing.”

Another user wrote, “Every single one of them are stealing the governmental salary and doubling down to use their influence to cheat and steal their way to 8-figure wealth.”

Another user criticized Joe, stating, “This mess on the border has nothing to do with funding. Biden could close the border today. Resources being diverted to manage would go back to enforcement. We're not stupid, many, many of us understand what Democrats are doing. Joe, you know it too.”
