TEHRAN, IRAN: Iran has mocked President Donald Trump on social media, using first lady Melania Trump as a punchline after he claimed he was "an hour away from making the decision to go today" regarding military strikes on Iran.

The trolling came after Trump told reporters at the White House that the US was ready to launch a fresh round of bombings before he decided to postpone the attack.

Reacting to the halted military operations, the Iranian embassy in Kenya wrote in an X post, "Trump was gonna strike Iran tomorrow… but news say Melania has a nail appointment and he's gotta drop her off at the salon first. Priorities, folks. The free world hangs by a manicure."

The comment came as Trump spoke about contemplating fresh strikes on Iran, telling reporters during a briefing that US forces were fully prepared to resume bombing.

"I was an hour away from making the decision to go today... We were all set to go... it would have been happening right now," he said.

Trump explained that he decided to pause because he was informed that serious diplomatic progress was being made and that Tehran was trying to negotiate. However, he issued an ultimatum, stating that Iran had until this weekend to agree to the deal, emphasizing that stopping Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons was the main objective.

Iran embassy trolls Trump during escalating tensions

Tehran's diplomatic missions have repeatedly targeted Trump on social media during recent tensions.

During the Strait of Hormuz crisis, when Trump set a deadline for Iran to reopen the waterway by posting, "Tuesday will be Power Plant Day, and Bridge Day, all wrapped up in one, in Iran. There will be nothing like it!!! Open the Strait, you crazy, or you'll be living in Hell – JUST WATCH!", the Iranian Embassy in Zimbabwe responded by saying, "We've lost the keys".

In another post addressing his 8 pm deadline, the same embassy wrote, "8 PM is not that good. Could you change it to between 1 and 2 PM, or if possible, 1 and 2 AM? Thank you for your attention to this important matter. IEZ."

When a user asked, "Iran trolling Trump. What year are we in?", the embassy replied, "Not in stone age, yet", referencing Trump's earlier warnings in which he said, "we will bomb Iran back to the Stone Ages".
