'It feels so surreal': Marvel star Alaqua Cox experiences full-circle moment as guest on 'GMA'
NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: Alaqua Cox appeared on the January 15 episode of 'Good Morning America' with co-hosts Gio Benitez and Lara Spencer, and her interpreter Ashley Change, to discuss her breakout role as the Marvel superhero, 'Echo.'
Currently streaming on Disney+, the series revolves around the first Native American disabled superhero in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, who debuted in the 2021 series, 'Hawkeye.'
Now a hit in her own right, Cox is riding high from the success of her first foray into acting, and was super excited to be on the set of the morning show.

Co-host Benitez told Cox that being on the show was "kind of a full-circle moment" for her, as she was present outside the 'GMA' building at Times Square six years ago. A video clip showing Cox standing among the crowd in the streets was played, making the star go, "Oh my gosh! It feels so surreal!"
"I remember I was job hopping back then, and I would earn enough money to travel to New York City with my partner. And we always wanted to go to New York City and explore the city for a few days at that time," she recalled.
"And I remember (deciding) 'We have to be on TV.' So we woke up very early on 'Good Morning America' and be behind the window, which is somewhere here. We were waiting like crazy," continued Cox.
"So now, I am actually on the other side of the window, with you (the co-hosts) - this is just a crazy day," she exclaimed.

"How does it feel knowing that your son will see you as a superhero one day?" she asked.
"You know, he is an indigenous baby, of course, but I want him to know that authentic representation (who) is on the screen, that is his mom," Cox replied.
"You know, he's going to have to wait a little bit to see it because it is so violent," she added with a laugh.
