LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Brooke Shields has shed light on her previous relationship with her former husband, Andre Agassi, with whom she was married from 1997 to 1999.

Brooke Shields enjoyed being the wife of tennis star
She shared, “With Andre, it also felt good to feel smaller than another because he was so famous and number 1 in the world.”
The ‘Endless Love’ star also noted, “Everywhere we went, he had tons of bodyguards. I could sit back because it wasn’t my world.”
“He was the first one out of the car when we arrived at events. It was a real kind of respite,” she asserted.
Shields also credited Agassi for helping her in her split from her mother, Teri, who also used to manage her.
The 58-year-old actress told the AARP magazine, “It was a transition that I needed. I wasn’t strong enough to separate from my mother on my own. I kept falling back in.”
Brooke Shields says she was judged by her parents
In another part of the interview, Shields, a mother of two daughters, discussed her approach to parenting and her current spouse, Chris Henchy, who is a film producer and director.
‘The Blue Lagoon’ star explained, “From the time my girls were little kids, I spoke to them as human beings and made my best effort to switch it back around. ‘What do you think about that, or how does that make you feel?’ They’ve never felt judged by me, whereas I felt judged all the time.”

She continued, “And I wanted to be a good girl. And if I wasn’t a good girl, what would that mean? The worst thing she [Teri] could say was, ‘I’m disappointed in you.’"
“And I’m like, ‘Oh my God, I’ve done it now. …’ That, I think, was a function of her alcoholism. There was an edge to it,” she stated, before adding, “But I’m a safe zone for whatever the girls say, feel, think, do, even if it’s wrong.”
Brooke Shields calls her husband a ‘very good dad’
Regarding her husband Chris Henchy, Shields remarked, "He makes me laugh. I think I always knew that I needed solid and normal. And he’s a very, very good dad.”
She added, “He goes to every basketball game, every volleyball game. And the kids love being around him too.”
