Ariel Winter reveals she is taking therapy since she was 15
The star recently opened up about her mental health struggles and how she is taking medication to fight it, reports Daily Mail.
She made an appearance on the ‘Broad Ideas’ podcast with Rachel Bilson and Olivia Allen earlier and, while the latter was talking about her dogs suffering from anxiety and getting medication for it, Winter confessed too.
Olivia told her, 'I love that you just came out with it and are open and honest about that... same.'
The actress responded with, "Why am I gonna be out here, like, pretending like I don’t need something?"
“Like, why am I gonna be out here pretending that I can live my life just fine without it when, like, I can’t. And, like, so many people I know can’t either,” she said.
The ‘Star Trek: Lower Decks’ star revealed that she’d been on medication since 16 years of age and, a year before, her therapy began.

Ariel Winter shared some of the side-effects of early medication
Due to her medicines she gained around 20-30 pounds. “It was a really hard journey to find the right ones. It took a really long time," she said.
“Nothing I could do would get it off,” Winter said, adding "It was never about the weight. I'd much rather feel okay than, like, you know, feel extremely skinny.”
It was hard work for Ariel to find her best medicine combination. “I found a couple, for me, that work great together.” She wanted to reduce her medication, but with time decided, “I was like, "whatever, I feel better,” she revealed.
“It is what it is. What, if I have to take a couple together to be the best version of me, that’s fine,” Winter added.
"I'd much rather take the time and heal now,' she said, 'rather than wait," she further stated on the podcast.
