Shakira says it’s ‘good’ not to have a partner as she enjoys her single life after Gerard Pique split
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Shakira is not sure if she’ll even find love again after ending her relationship with longtime partner Gerard Pique.
The singer made an appearance on 'Apple Music 1' show and opened up about her take on love.
“I thought love would be there for ever for me, and that’s one of my broken dreams. I don’t know if I’d like to find that again. Probably not,” Shakira told the host.
However, the ‘Hips Don’t Lie’ singer emphasized that she doesn’t sulk about it.
“I’ve always been in a couple, but then when that wasn’t there, and when I had to face the darkest moments of my life, friends were there and kept me together, " said the 47-year-old.
“I might not grow old with a partner, but I will grow old surrounded by good friends.”
Shakira said her relationship was 'dragging' her down
The artist looked at the positive side, “It’s kind of good not to have a husband because it was dragging me down.”
“Now I feel like working, writing songs, making music. I’ve had my fair share of vile men, but right now I couldn’t be happier.”
Speaking about how her elder son processed her split from Pique, Shakira said, "Milan, I remember he wrote two beautiful songs during the whole separation process and they just—they would make anyone cry."
"He wrote two songs on piano, and lyrics," she shared.
"Whenever he feels a little down, he goes to the piano and he writes music. And that is also his catharsis, his therapy," Shakira added.

Shakira on society's perception
On how people react around her family the singer said, "Society teaches us to conceal our feelings in front of our kids but I think that's a mistake because they know better and they perceive things in many different ways."
"And they can tell when an adult is lying to them. They want the truth. And if you don't give them the truth, they make up their own version," she explained.
Shakira and Pique first met in 2010 on the set of the songstress' 'Waka Waka (This Time for Africa') music video.
The two made their relationship public on social media in March 2011, reports TheSun. They welcomed their first son, Milan, in 2013 and their second son, Sasha was born two years later in January 2015.
