‘It was so beautiful’: 'Twilight's Elizabeth Reaser reveals her secret but 'lovely' wedding to Bruce Gilbert, fans call it 'perfection'

NAPLES, ITALY: Elizabeth Reaser, best known for portraying Esme in the ‘Twilight’ franchise, has revealed that she secretly married Bruce Gilbert, a decorated composer, in a small ceremony in Italy in August 2023.

The couple decided to elope with only a few friends as witnesses, keeping the event intimate and personal.

Reaser and Gilbert had been busy making huge guest lists for the wedding but then decided against it and eloped in the personal event with a few of their close friends as witnesses. 

“Originally, we were making these huge lists of people to invite but we realized pretty quickly it didn’t feel right for us,” Reaser told Vogue magazine.

“We decided to elope instead, with a couple of friends as witnesses.” Among the few friends present were fellow celebrities Sarah Paulson and Holland Taylor.

The couple first met in 2017 in their shared Silver Lake, Los Angeles, neighborhood while Gilbert was walking his dogs and Reaser was hosting a dog playdate.

As Reaser puts it, “We owe our dogs everything!” In her latest Instagram post, she shared Vogue's picture and wrote, "Bruce and I got married."

It was in 2022, that Gilbert proposed to Reaser at her “favorite place in the world,” Hotel Il San Pietro di Positano in Italy. “I was completely shocked!” Reaser recalled. 

“He secretly filmed it by shoving his iPhone in a lattice on the balcony, and we watched it almost immediately after as I was in complete disbelief! Then he played Beyonce’s ‘Summer Renaissance’, and we danced," the actress said.

Inspired by the magic of that moment, the couple decided to seal their love on the stunning Amalfi Coast the following year.

For their wedding, Gilbert enlisted a mandolin player and a guitarist to strum as Reaser walked down the aisle.

“It was so beautiful that we stopped at the end of the aisle and had an impromptu first dance,” she gushed.

“I think it may have been the purest moment of happiness in my life.” Following the heartfelt exchange of vows, the newlyweds and their closest friends celebrated with champagne and danced the night away.

Overwhelmed with emotion, Reaser confessed to Vogue, “It was the most intense experience. Something happened to us when we said the vows. It did change everything. I was trying not to cry the whole time except for when I was laughing.”

The internet is in awe of the photographs from the wedding event. Although small, they feel it is "lovely," thanks to Reaser’s friend Megan Ferguson, as she suggested her wedding photographer, Shawn Connell, and he ended up being available.

“We loved him so much,” Reaser said. “I don't normally enjoy being photographed, and I thought I would be self-conscious, but he has such a special way about him..." she added. 

"Honestly, this is gorgeous. What a lovely, simple ceremony," commented one on Instagram, and another added, "Something about that last photo is incredibly special. What a shot."

On put it as, "Perfection." Another person added, "This is the chicest thing I’ve ever seen."

"I couldn’t love this anymore," wrote one, another said, "Stunning perfection."

One fan commented, "Absolutely breathtaking pictures! I spent the entire morning scrolling through the article, completely mesmerized by your photos."
