NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: In a blistering monologue, conservative commentator Sean Hannity exposed what he perceives as a politically motivated attack on former President Donald Trump.

"This is a taxpayer-funded, media-promoted political smear campaign against Donald Trump," Hannity declared, pulling no punches in his assessment of the situation.

Hannity denounces alleged politically motivated prosecution against Trump

Hannity highlighted the prosecutor, Alvin Bragg, as a central figure in what he described as a vendetta against Trump, alleging, "And miraculously and perfectly timed just for the presidential election. Now the prosecutor, Alvin Bragg, hates Donald Trump. He ran on a 'hate Trump' campaign."

Hannity did not stop there, highlighting, "He hates him for political reasons. The judge, Juan Merchan is his name, he's a Democrat. Guess who he donated to in 2020: Joe Biden. The jury pool is comprised of Americans living in deep blue New York City. Only 12% of the electorate there voted for Trump."

He further said, "The alleged crime? Yeah, well, it's hard to describe. They haven't really told us yet. It is a misdemeanor document label allegation that dates back eight years."

Moreover, Hannity drew attention to the makeup of the jury pool, pointing out that it is predominantly drawn from a Democratic-leaning city where only 12% of the electorate voted for Trump.

He raised concerns about whether Trump could receive a fair trial in such a politically charged atmosphere.

Hannity contended that the purported crime itself is minor and dates back eight years—a misdemeanor document label allegation.

However, Hannity argued that the true motive behind the prosecution is not justice, but rather political retribution.

He said, "By the way, just for the record, well past the statute of limitations that Alvin Bragg mysteriously brought back to life by turning it into a felony on federal election law, but none of that really matters, does it?"

"This is not about justice. It's not about keeping Americans safe," Hannity added.

"Do you really think this is a threat to any American in New York City?" Hannity asked rhetorically, highlighting what he perceives as misplaced priorities on the part of the prosecutor.

He argued that while violent criminals and drug dealers roam free, Trump is being unfairly targeted for political reasons.

Netizens disagree with Hannity's defense of Trump

Social media erupted in condemnation in response to Hannity's statement, with several users simply writing, "Nope."

Another user wrote, "Entertainment media is hilarious. Imagine if he was serious. lol."

Another viewer noted, "It’s not. Trashhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh." [sic]

One more viewer said, "It’s a criminal trial. Donald Trump is a criminal. And no one is above the law! If Trump didn’t want this, he shouldn’t have committed the 34 criminal counts he’s been charged with."

"Will he ever just shut up," expressed another viewer.

"Shocking how ppl still watch that trash tho. sean hannity is a joke fr. OF is the only thing he should join," another viewer voiced. [sic]

"Don's a crim. Sean is a sycophant," said another. [sic]
