Aaron Taylor-Johnson calls scrutiny over 23-year age gap between him and wife Sam Taylor-Wood 'bizarre'

LONDON, UK: Actor Aaron Taylor Johnson is giving back to those who continue to scrutinize the age gap between him and his wife Sam Taylor-Wood.

In an interview with Rolling Stone UK, the ‘Kick-Ass’ star tried to explain, "What you gotta realize is that what most people were doing in their twenties, I was doing when I was 13."

The 33-year-old met his now-wife Sam Taylor-Wood, when he was around 18-19 years old.

How did Aaron Taylor-Johnson and his wife meet?

Aaron Taylor Johnson met Sam Taylor-Johnson at the shooting of the 2009 film ‘Nowhere Boy', which was her directorial debut.

They started dating immediately and announced their engagement at the film's premiere in October. They welcomed their first daughter in 2010 and got married in 2012.

"You’re doing something too quickly for someone else? I don’t understand that," Taylor-Johnson said of the ongoing narrative. "What speed are you supposed to enjoy life at? It’s bizarre to me."

The couple share four daughters, two from Sam’s previous marriage.

On becoming a parent, Aaron said, "You realize it’s your job to protect the purest, most innocent thing that’s come into the world."

"And it’s your duty to be their role model. You are going to be reflected in their choices later on in life, from who their partners are to how they carry themselves in the world."

On teaming up with his wife for the 2018 film, ‘A Million Little Pieces', which met with little success, the actor told Fox News, "There’s a protectiveness that I feel; I think it’s really difficult. There’s also part of me that feels like if something didn’t work, I’m the one that’s responsible."

Aaron said he’s just like any other man, who takes care of his family, "People see and perceive this thing around my career, and that’s OK."

"But I’m just trying to juggle my family and my work. I’m doing normal life; dentist appointments."
