‘It’s gonna be fun’: Trump donor who accused Kimberly Guilfoyle of $100K quid pro quo vows to sue
WASHINGTON, DC: Kimberly Guilfoyle, the US ambassador to Greece and former fiancee of Donald Trump Jr, is facing mounting pressure as misconduct allegations not only raise questions about her diplomatic future but also fuel legal threats.
Businessman Eric Deters, a former congressional candidate and donor to President Donald Trump who accused Guilfoyle of asking him to pay her credit card debt, has now vowed to take legal action against the ambassador and her lawyers.
According to a Wall Street Journal report, Deters alleged that Guilfoyle asked him to wire $100,000 to cover her American Express bill shortly before her Senate confirmation hearing in early July 2025, reportedly promising to be his “ride or die in Trump world” in return.
Eric Deters wants to get Kimberly Guilfoyle fired
Deters, on Monday, October 12, joined CNN’s 'Anderson Cooper 360°', where anchor John Berman asked, “What are the chances that you think they would fire her?”
“I think she’s gone. I think he has to fire her,” Deters said, adding, “I think what I’ve presented, she can’t escape from. It’s black and white. It’s her own words, and I think she’s toast as a result of it. It’s grifting on the highest level, and it’s just an awful look for the administration.”
Eric Deters says he will sue Amb. Kimberly Guilfoyle and her attorneys for defamation. He alleges to have text messages in which Guilfoyle requested he pay off her personal American Express card before she was confirmed as the ambassador to Greece. https://t.co/QCFJNEXNDy

Berman then questioned him about Guilfoyle’s attorneys’ claim that she was merely attempting to collect roughly $150,000 in unpaid fees for previous speaking engagements and consulting work.
“Well, I’m going to be suing those lawyers, that law firm, and Kimberly Guilfoyle here in Kentucky,” Deters promised. “It’s gonna be fun.”
The retired lawyer denied being a “known blackmailer,” insisting, “I’ve never blackmailed anybody in my life,” and accused Guilfoyle’s team of making false claims about their text messages and invoices.
Deters alleged she asked him to “make up that I owed her money” and write a letter to support it, claiming the arrangement was “phony” and adding that she never mentioned him owing her money in their text messages, before vowing to sue them all for “defamation.”
Trump says he’s ‘looking at’ firing Kimberly Guilfoyle
Deters’ legal action came after Trump confirmed the administration is weighing firing Guilfoyle, following reports of her alleged improper behaviour in Athens.
Asked if he was considering sacking her, Trump told reporters at the White House: "We're looking at it. Yeah, we're not happy."
This came as a senior US official told the Associated Press that Trump and Secretary of State Marco Rubio are displeased by Guilfoyle’s reported conduct.
Sources have revealed that the president has been monitoring reports, which have angered a number of senior White House officials, particularly Rubio, who recently visited Athens for a high-profile speech on Western democracy delivered from the Acropolis.
However, he has declined to address the allegations directly, saying, "You guys walk around thinking that because some source told you something and you reported it, it's the gospel. It's not the gospel.”
The reports also revealed that a decision on what action to take would likely come this week after Monday’s Columbus Day holiday.
Trump nominated Guilfoyle to the diplomatic post in December 2024, just a few days after she ended her four years long engagement to Don Jr, who went on to marry Palm Beach socialite Bettina Anderson in May of this year.
