Kimberly Guilfoyle’s leaked texts reveal reaction after pics linked Don Jr to Bettina Anderson
NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: Kimberly Guilfoyle reportedly pushed back against claims that her relationship with Donald Trump Jr was in trouble after photographs emerged of him with Bettina Anderson in August 2024.
Newly reported text messages between Guilfoyle and Republican donor Eric Deters offer a glimpse into her response as questions about her engagement continued.
The messages, reported by the Daily Mail, show Guilfoyle dismissing the reports as “fake news” and insisting that there were no problems in what she called “Jr World.” The exchanges have resurfaced as Guilfoyle faces renewed scrutiny over complaints concerning her leadership and expenses as US ambassador to Greece.
Kimberly Guilfoyle dismisses reports about Donald Trump Jr and Bettina Anderson
Guilfoyle's messages to Deters came after reports about Donald Trump Jr's growing closeness to Bettina Anderson attracted attention in August 2024.
The Daily Mail published photographs of the pair on August 17, 2024, with witnesses claiming they had kissed several times during a brunch date.
Deters, a Kentucky attorney who had hosted Guilfoyle and Trump Jr at political events over several years, said he became concerned about Guilfoyle after the report appeared.
He reached out to her on September 17, 2024, asking how she was doing. “You doing OK?” Deters texted. “Saw the Daily Mail report. I have that app. I could tell Saturday that you were hurting.”
Guilfoyle rejected his suggestion that the report had upset her. According to the messages, she called the coverage “fake news” and responded, “I wasn't hurting wtf.”
In another exchange, Guilfoyle defended her relationship with Trump Jr, insisting that they had spent a good evening together after the political event they attended.
“I was having a fing great time Saturday and we had a fing amazing time when we got home Saturday night that's nonsense. That's his ex-wife's friend,” she wrote.
Guilfoyle also criticized Anderson in the messages, accusing her of seeking attention through the coverage. She claimed Anderson had sent in her own bikini photographs to be included in the report.
However, a source close to Anderson and Trump Jr rejected that allegation, telling the Daily Mail there was “zero truth” to the claim that Anderson had any involvement in the story.
Eric Deters describes tensions between Kimberly Guilfoyle and Donald Trump Jr
Deters also recounted his experience hosting Guilfoyle and Trump Jr at the annual Patriot's Day Freedom Fest on September 14, 2024. The event, which he launched in 2020 to protest COVID-19 medical mandates, regularly attracted prominent conservative figures.
According to Deters, the atmosphere between the engaged couple had changed considerably by the time they attended the festival.
He claimed Trump Jr avoided sitting near Guilfoyle or speaking to her during their journeys to and from the airport and inside the VIP tent.
Deters said the awkward interactions were noticeable to people at the event. He also claimed Guilfoyle asked him to compliment her in front of Trump Jr in an effort to improve their relationship.
The donor further alleged that Guilfoyle arranged for his wife and a friend to bring her alcohol discreetly during the festival because she did not want Trump Jr to see her drinking.
These details remain Deters' account of what happened at the event.
The festival took place shortly before the former couple's relationship became a subject of wider public attention.
Guilfoyle and Trump Jr had begun dating during Donald Trump's first presidential term and became engaged in 2020.
They ended their engagement in 2024 as Trump Jr was increasingly linked to Anderson. They later married in May 2026.
Kimberly Guilfoyle faces renewed scrutiny as ambassador to Greece
Guilfoyle's past relationship has returned to public discussion as she faces separate questions about her conduct in her diplomatic role.
President Donald Trump nominated her to serve as US ambassador to Greece in December 2024, and she was confirmed by the Senate the following September.
The Daily Mail recently reported that the State Department was investigating complaints about her leadership and alleged lavish expenses and corporate perks. The reported inquiry has brought further attention to her time in the administration.
Vice President JD Vance and Secretary of State Marco Rubio have also faced questions about the allegations. Vance said he did not “love” the reports concerning Guilfoyle's spending and expenses but added that he did not know all the details.
Rubio, meanwhile, pushed back against reporters' questions during official travel to Greece, saying he did not know which reports were true. “You guys somehow walk around thinking that because some source told you something and you reported it, it's the gospel,” Rubio said. “It's not the gospel. It's not the gospel for me.”
